bravado

*double update (1/2)*

I first laid eyes on Harry Styles freshman year in the student parking lot.

Throughout my previous eight years of education, I never once saw the tall boy with short curly hair and a dimpled smile.

He was having a smoke with Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, two boys that had gone to my middle school.

This was before everything had gotten so complicated and our hatred for each other started. When I first saw Harry Styles I thought it was love at first sight.

I remember that day completely, from the way I styled my hair for my first day of high school to how Mayer Johnson tripped in the cafeteria and spilt chocolate pudding all over his pants.

Monte's older sister drove the four of us, cramming Braeden and I in the pack of her two door little coupe. This was before Brae and I were a couple, at the time we were just really good friends.

I remember Brae helping me out of the car and me having to quickly pat down my skirt that flew up from the rough transition. When I looked around to see if anyone saw my wardrobe malfunction, that's when I spotted the green eyed boy starring right at me with a cheeky smirk painted on his lips. Obviously my face turned beet red and I quickly looked away, but of course me being nosey and shit, I peeked back over and still saw him staring at me. Being the insecure and totally lame freshman I was, I sent him an awkward smile and wave, to which he laughed. I was so embarrassed I almost missed the way his brows raised and the flutter of his fingers as he waved back to me with his cigarette between his lips.

I was hoping he'd walk over to me and for a second I thought he was going to but before I could find out, Monte grabbed my arm and started to pull me towards the school building.

Looking one last time over my shoulder, I notice his eyes never left me, even when he stomped out his cig he was still smirking at me. Don't think I missed the way his eyes flicked down to my ass either when I was walking away.

"I wouldn't go there." Monte said when she caught me drooling.

"Why not?" I asked, not knowing Monte knew the mystery boy from the parking lot.

"Because he's clearly trouble, and why go for him when my brother has been obsessed with you since we were in dippers?"

I knew what Monte was trying to do. I'd heard from a few people that Braeden liked me but I didn't want to rock the boat with dating my best friends brother. I'd also just seen the cutest boy in the whole state of California who had waved at me, so I didn't know what to do.

However, the choice became abundantly clear in our third block English class.

I was first in the class as always, the seat next to me empty and I was hoping it would stay that way since none of my friends were in that class with me. Just as the final bell was going to ring, in strolled the boy I was immediately fascinated with. He took one look around the classroom before his eyes locked on mine and his lips pulled into that beautiful smirk.

Of course I was blushing yet again, everything about this boy screamed flushed behavior.

Taking his time and not giving a damn that Sister Mary was about to blow a blood vessel, he made his way towards my desk, hands in pockets and confidence in his step.

He slid himself in the seat next to mine and automatically slung his arm around the back of my chair. Propping his left elbow on the desk he turned towards me and stared as Sister Mary began her lesson.
