HIGH PRIESTHOOD OF TARIS
In the era of the High Republic, the Jedi order established outposts in the outer rim to help with issues they were normally too far away to assist on.
In the year 363 BBY, the Jedi order established one of these outposts on Taris under the leadership of Jedi Master Caelum Velia. Master Velia, with the help of King Lucian Daulton of Taris, defeated the Crymorah Crime Syndicate and brought peace to the Ojoster system. While they worked together they fell in love, and Master Velia left the Jedi Order and became the prince consort of Taris, as well as the first High Priest of Taris; a position created by King Daulton to keep the Jedi connected with Taris and it's system.
Over time, the role of High Priest became a symbolic one; only performing weddings, funerals, and crowning ceremonies.
The High Priest is a position chosen by the monarch of Taris.
