The elder could feel the sadness radiating through the phone, his heart cracked when he heard a sniffle. He wanted nothing more than to rush home and scoop his lover in his arms. But he had been planning this surprise for a month, he couldn't back off now, when he's so close.
"Gguk, I don't think I'll be able to come home for Christmas this time," Taehyung murmured sadly through the phone.
"It's alright Tae, just take care of yourself and don't catch a cold, okay?" the younger attempted to hide the tremble in his voice.
The elder could feel the sadness radiating through the phone, his heart cracked when he heard a sniffle. He wanted nothing more than to rush home and scoop his lover in his arms. But he had been planning this surprise for a month, he couldn't back off now, when he's so close.
"Yeah I will, I love you," he said with a fond smile.
"I love you too Tae, bye," Jeongguk hung up, he had not seen his boyfriend in 2 months and now he was not even coming home for Christmas, oh how evil the universe could be?
Little did he know that the elder was coming back home with something he could have never expected.
The ringing sound of the alarm woke Jeongguk from his slumber. Christmas had been his favorite festival since childhood, he had been celebrating it with the elder for 3 years, they had their own traditions. (choosing outfits for each other, baking a shitty cake, watching movies while cuddling, dancing to slow music etc.)
He could not help but feel a pang in his chest due to the absence of his favourite person. He was checking the notifications of his phone, when he saw a message from Jimin telling him to open his door, for something is there for him.
Jeongguk grumbled while putting his coat on, he went to open the door, while rubbing his eyes to get rid of the sleepiness. He saw a white box lying on his doorstep with a red ribbon tied neatly on top of it. He untied the ribbon to open the box. The box had a note which read, "My wish for Christmas is to not have your ring finger empty from now, will you help me fulfill it?"
The younger recognised the handwriting instantly, he was so overwhelmed at the implication of the note, that he had no idea when tears started blurring his vision, all the bones in his body screamed for his Taehyung.
Two familiar hands came out of nowhere and held his hands which were shaking. He was afraid that this was a dream and he was about to wake up soon. When he lifted his head, he swore his heart was about to burst with happiness.
There was his Taehyung standing with the brightest smile on his face, he immediately grabbed the elder through his waist and placed his face in the crook of his neck, despite living at his house, he still missed his home, this was his home.
"If I'm dreaming, just stay for a little while more, I've missed you so so much," he choked on a sob. The elder cradled his face between his hands, "Ggukie, I'm here, it's all real," he chuckled wetly.
Jeongguk roamed his hands through the elder's face, hair, arms and waist, so as to process the reality of the situation, "Kiss me, please," he requested in a small voice. Taehyung wasted no time and pressed his lips on the youngers', he felt whole again, all the crevices in his body filled themselves.
The elder pulled away, "You haven't answered my question yet," he gestured towards the note and feigned a pout. The younger gave him a nose scrunch accompanied with a teasing smile, "Ask me properly first," he crossed his arms and huffed. Taehyung mumbled "so dramatic" under his breath and nodded his head.
"Jeon Jeongguk, the love of my life, my cutie patootie, the christmas to my winter, my darling cupcake, will you marry me and not keep your ring finger empty from now on?" he asked after taking out the ring from his pocket.
The younger's heart practically swelled in his chest, to tease his boyfriend, he put his fingers on his chin and gave him a thinking expression as if he was contemplating whether to agree or not.
But after seeing the nervousness in his eyes, "Yes, Tae, the love of my life, honey, I'll marry you, but on one condition," he spoke with a mischievous smile on his face.
"Please come inside, it's so cold, I might just die of hypothermia," he said with an exaggerated pout. Taehyung cooed, he wasted no time and picked him in his arms after sliding the ring in his finger.
