"Can two boys fall in love?" Minjun, his son, asks out of the blue.
Jeongguk's eyes widen at the question and he feels Taehyung's hand on his shoulder freeze.
They both share a look of understanding and he turns towards his son.
"Yes, they can."
Jeongguk pats his cheek affectionately and continues, "Any one who has a heart can fall in love, Junie. Their gender doesn't matter."
He feels fingers linking with his, as a grounding force. Taehyung, his second shot at love, the man he met because of his son has added happiness in all the tiny crevices of his life.
Taehyung has been Minjun's piano tutor for a year now, and they both have been dating for six months.
Being a single parent, life had been really tough on him. Handling his job and his child was nothing but a huge challenge.
But Jeongguk loved challenges, even if at the end of the day, he felt loneliness creeping through him, holding him in a tight grip that left a gaping hole in his chest.
Taehyung entering his life as Minjun's piano tutor was truly a blessing from God, because not only the guy was good with kids, but he was a charmer.
And boy, did he charm Jeongguk.
From roses being sent at his office to cooking meals for Jeongguk, it was next to impossible that the younger could not cave in.
Though the thing that warmed his heart the most was how genuine his love was for Minjun. Finding some action in his love life was far from what he had expected as Minjun came into his life. People don't date guys who have kids, everyone knows that.
Perhaps, Kim Taehyung didn't.
( "Are you sure? Minjun would always come first for me, Tae." Jeongguk asks, because he needs to know.
Taehyung just smiles, so softly that it makes Jeongguk want to nuzzle in his cheeks, "I'm happy being your second most favorite person."
The younger laughs, disbelievingly. "You do love him more than me, though."
Taehyung curls his arms around his waist, "Guilty as charged."
The elder swallows his giggles, slotting their lips together.
And Jeongguk knows how much of a big risk it is, letting Minjun get attached to Taehyung.
But something in the way Taehyung kisses him, caresses his waist, tenderly. He knows Taehyung is for him and Minjun, alone.)
"Really?" Minjun asks.
Both of them nod.
"Then why do we always see one boy and one girl falling in love in those shows?"
Jeongguk smiles at the innocent curiosity.
"Some people don't like the idea of same genders falling in love, that's why."
"One more reason, people think that two boys or two girls look too good together, they're probably jealous." Taehyung says.
Minjun pouts with a thinking expression and then nods.
"There were too many 'too's' and 'two's' in your sentence, TaeTae." The child points out making Jeongguk and Taehyung chuckle.
"You both do look too good together."
There's pin drop silence after Minjun says that.
Jeongguk feels shocked, did Minjun figure it out? Shouldn't he have told him by –
"Thank you, Junie." Taehyung says, ruffling his hair.
Minjun smiles.
"But you better don't make my appa cry, like they show in the dramas." His son puffs his chest out and narrows his eyes at the elder.
Jeongguk has to bite his lip to keep himself from laughing.
Taehyung widens his eyes in mock fear, "Oh yes, wouldn't even dream of it, your highness."
Minjun schools his expression to a pensive one, "Okay, you have my blessings."
And that's when Taehyung starts tickling Minjun's sides, causing him to giggle until he's out of breath.
Now that he looks at them, he doesn't feel lonely anymore, rather he feels adoration in all its aspects seeing his boyfriend and his son, looking so domestic and cuddly.
After a while, when Taehyung has put Minjun to sleep, they both lie in bed together and Jeongguk thinks about how he got the approval of his son, in the easiest way ever.
He feels a nose bumping with his, he looks at Taehyung, placing his hands on the elder's shoulders.
"You are happy." He whispers at his lips.
Jeongguk hums, "Minjun matters a lot to me and now he has approved. Though I should have told him –"
The younger yelps interrupting himself as Taehyung pinches his waist.
"No, none of that. Minjun knows, he's happy, you are too and I'm the happiest I've ever been." He chides, gently.
Jeongguk nods after pondering over the words.
Taehyung flicks his chin, "Do you know why I love Minjun more than you?"
He shakes his head.
The elder rests his hand on the younger's jaw, "Because he led me to you."
Jeongguk's heart stutters in his chest, "I am so in love with you." He mumbles.
Taehyung pecks his nose. "Who isn't?"
Jeongguk can't argue with that.
For he's guilty as charged.
