"I – I think I love you." Taehyung whispers to the sleeping Jeongguk.
He stiffened as a pinky intertwined with his.
Taehyung sucks in a breath preparing himself for the incoming onslaught of rejection.
But it never comes.
He hears a sob.
Taehyung's eyes widen in alarm, he wraps his arms around the younger omega's waist.
Jeongguk scrambles towards him to hide his face in the crook of his neck.
The elder omega feels his heart clench as his shirt gets wet with his tears.

As his cries quieten, the younger fists his shirt in his hands and looks up to Taehyung with red rimmed eyes and tears dried on his cheeks.
"Tell me, this is not a dream, please." He pleads with his impossibly wide eyes, which shine with desperation.
Taehyung's heart hammers against his ribcage at his words.
"No, it isn't a dream. It's real, Gukie." He presses a kiss to his forehead.
Jeongguk doesn't say anything for a while and anxiety crawls against Taehyung's skin.
"Would you rather want it to be a dream?" He questions, silently.
Jeongguk lets out a humorless laugh, "I've been dreaming about this for years, hyung."
Taehyung blinks at him, perplexed. Jeongguk sighs.
"Do you know why I didn't talk to you for a week after you presented?" Jeongguk asks.
The elder recalls that day, being a late bloomer, he presented at the age of twenty, whereas werewolves usually present at the age of sixteen or seventeen. His childhood best friend, Jeongguk, had presented before him.
Not knowing the reason, he shakes his head in response.
"I – I wanted you to present as an alpha." He pauses seeing Taehyung frown, the elder parts his mouth, but the younger shushes him with a finger.
"Listen to me, first... I wanted you to be an alpha so that we could.....date." He whispers the last part.
He audibly gulps, hearing the younger. He understands why Jeongguk would have wanted him to be an alpha. During childhood, they were taught that only alphas and omega could pursue each other romantically. But now, things are different.
𝐹𝑢𝑐𝑘, 𝑑𝑖𝑑 ℎ𝑒 –
"I have loved you since high school, hyung." He murmurs, his eyes casted on Taehyung's scent gland.
"But y-you always said that you wanted an alpha." He voices out his thoughts.
Jeongguk nods, "I was trying to suppress my feelings for you."
Taehyung exhales deeply, he brings his palms to Jeongguk's cheeks, cupping them, he says, "Idiots, aren't we?"
Jeongguk giggles, "Mhm."
The elder looks at him, traces his face with his fingertips, a feather-like touch making the younger close his eyes and sigh pleasantly.
"Wait, will you be okay with being an omega?" Taehyung asks, as he settles his hands on his neck.
"Nope." Air rushes out his lungs at the denial, he feels like –
"I'll be okay only with a certain Kim Taehyung." The elder feels his heart skip a beat at that, the previous constriction in his chest dissipating, being replaced with warmth.
"As long as you stay by my side, you can be a bear or a tiger for all I care." Jeongguk huffs.
Taehyung chuckles at the reassurance and feels touched at the underlying vow in his words.
"When d-did you know?" He asks, shyly.
"When did I know 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡?" Taehyung asks, even though he knows the question.
(He just likes to see the pink on Jeongguk's cheeks)
Jeongguk whines, and mumbles something incoherent in his neck.
"Can't hear you, treasure. Speak up." He mutters in a low voice.
The younger pulls away with flushed cheeks and Taehyung almost coos.
"When d-did you fall in love with me?" He asks, finally.
"Five months back. The day we went to that fair." The elder answers easily.
Jeongguk smiles, pleased with the answer.
Taehyung thinks he found a missing part of himself, when he realized his feelings for Jeongguk ran way past the 'best friends' boundary. Maybe he fell in love with Jeongguk when he smiled as Taehyung won a penguin plushie for him.
Or maybe he fell in love with him when Jeongguk laughed his heart out as they clicked goofy pics in the photo booth.
Whenever it was, he's glad he fell in love with him.
Because right now, seeing the new found shyness in his orbs and the beautiful boy in his arms, he doesn't want it any other way.
(He puckers his lips at Taehyung, "Give me a kiss."
Taehyung raises an eyebrow at the demand, "Not before at least two dates, you big baby."
Jeongguk pouts at that and widens his eyes, giving him a faux display of sadness, "O-oh okay, I –"
Taehyung's resolve crumbles at that, he tightens his hold on his waist when the younger tries to lean away, "No no, I'll give you anything, baby."
Jeongguk smiles, victoriously, "Give me a kiss, for every person you've dated."
Taehyung grins, "It's going to take long, then." He says, cupping the back of the younger's neck.
The younger omega nods, "That's exactly what I want."
And the rest of the night is spent, drunk in kisses of each other. With Taehyung's arms around him and his head on the elder's chest, he thinks he knows what love is.")
