Taehyung looks at the calendar.
Just two days left before Jeongguk's service is over.
He thought that one year with him would have been enough.
But now after spending more than a year with him, he knows that even a whole life with him is not enough.
Now that he thinks about it, Jeongguk is not someone who should be here, even though he is good at being a captain, his soul never actually belonged at a place like this.
Taehyung knows that he looks good on a tv screen, and that he deserves to go back to the life he had before his enlistment.
Then there's his stupid heart which aches at the thought of not seeing Jeongguk's smile, every morning as he saluted him, or never seeing him mimic one of his own dialogues from a drama he starred or never seeing him play the maknae card when he wanted something.
He knew what the flutter in his heart meant when Jeongguk sang him to sleep on the night of his mother's funeral. But Taehyung never paid attention to it, or rather he tried not to.
After that night, it was as if everything Jeongguk did, even the smallest of the gestures, like the twinkle of his eyes or how his nose scrunched when his lips curved up in a smile, warmed his chest.
He knew what it meant, he had never felt something like this for a guy, but he knew exactly what it meant.
Sometimes he thought that Jeongguk reciprocated /that feeling/, he was not dumb to see how his grins were a little tender when directed towards him or how his gaze lingered on Taehyung.
But he shrugged off those thoughts, thinking that it was his delusional heart clouding his rationality.
Although it never stopped him from thinking, how would it be to sleep with Jeongguk in his arms, or how soft his lips would feel against his.
Maybe it was one of those nights, when he would fall asleep to the thought of Jeongguk being by his side, not as the captain of the battalion, but something more.
Something that would satiate the carnal desire of his heart.
Something that would not leave his chest empty.
And something that would make him feel alive.
He shakes his head and sighs, sleep would not come too soon to him. And it's fine, because Jeongguk had told him that he wanted to meet him before he could sleep.
The anticipated knock to his door comes sooner than he was expecting.
Taehyung stands up from his rocking chair to walk towards the door, he plasters a smile on his face before opening it.
Jeongguk looks excited to see him, so the major ushers him inside, nodding at the soldiers on patrol duty.
Shutting the door behind him, he turns around and sees Jeongguk sitting on his bed, he pats the space beside him, as if it's his bed and he's inviting Taehyung to make himself comfortable on it.
