Sun shone high in the sky, yet dim clouds covered its strong rays, greying above the camp.

This is the day when Evelyn is coming up as Agent Salvatore, and she's ready to cover her excitement and nervousness with poker face Peggy has taught her to put on. She's never been in something like this.

When her brothers were still alive, women couldn't fight or practice with sword nor a gun. If she wanted to know some self-defence moves, she had to keep it secret and learn by herself. At least it paid off through the years.

Now they're at camp, waiting for new recruits to come. Evelyn already has her uniform on, the same one Peggy wears but in her size. The only close female friend Evelyn ever had was Rebekah Mikaelson, and then appeared Peggy. Two weeks took the two to realize they are gonna be very good friends.

Slowly, recruit after recruit started coming and standing in line, waiting for what's to come next. They have no idea that women are actually heads of their training so..., it will be fun. Oh, she also wanna see Steve's face when he sees her in the camp in the uniform. It will be hilarious. He'll be pissed at her for not telling him, that's for sure, but she knows him long enough to know he's gonna be actually glad she's here with him.

Peeking from behind curtains of the tent, Evelyn can already see Steve standing between the other recruits. It's hard to miss him, the poor guy being head lower than other men. When they're sure all of them are prepared and in place, Peggy approaches them with Evelyn right behind her, both of them having matching strong expressions. They gotta show them even a woman is capable of many things men are mainly supposed to do.

"Recruits, attention!" Called Peggy in loud, stern tone and everyone stopped talking, standing still and tall with thir chin held high.

"Gentleman, I'm Agent Carter. I supervise all operations for this division." Introduced Peggy herself, walking along the line of men, before introducing the second Agent. "And this is Agent Salvatore, my colleague and right hand. She's in charge when I'm not present." The named one didn't say anything, only kept stone face. Evelyn glanced over at Steve, seeing his shocked and confused face that caused her to send invisible smirk his way.

"Was this accident?" Interrupt rudely one of the men, making the two Agents stop and look at him. He can't talk until he has permission to talk. This guy is asking for Evy's fist. "For I was sign up to U.S. army." What a dick.

"What's your name, soldier?" Peggy ask him sternly, turning her full body to him, Evelyn doing the same.

"Gilmore Hodge, your majesty."

"Step forward, Hodge!" Peggy order and Hodge did as he was told, but with left leg. He either did it on purpose or he's really stupid, doesn't matter either way, he's on Evy's list of bastards.

"With your right leg forward. What kind of a soldier are you supposed to be? Even a child knows how to step." One scowl at the short Agent let everyone know what's going on in his head, thinking this is some kind of joke to have women command him, but he did fix himself and returned his attention back to Peggy.

"We gonna wrestle? Cause I got a good moves I know you'll like." He winked at the professional woman, a though that he will charm her with that stupid grin of his settled deep in his mind. Bad choice. This man is pissing Evelyn off. Not just that he's rude and is making fun of them, but he as well thinks that they're incapable of fighting and the worst choice as a teacher. They will gladly prove them wrong.

Peggy stepped aside, holding invisible smirk of her own at Evelyn's upcoming actions. The vampire wasted no time from swinging her clenched fist into his nose, and she wonder if she didn't lower her abnormal vampire strenght enough at he sound of crack. Other recruits chuckled, amused by the scene and the fact that sizes smaller woman managed to get a man on his ass. If they only knew how much she held back.

"Agent Carter! Agent Salvatore!" Called a voice from behind the two women, making Evelyn and Peggy quickly turn around and the soldiers straighten their back."Colonel Phillips." They said in unison and stood still. Maybe Evy is a bloody vampire that can kill you in less than a second, yet there's this respect she hold for Colonel Phillips that has her listen and avoid causing a scene.

"I see you're breaking in the candidates. That's good!" Said Phillips as he came beside them and look down at Hodge, who is still on the ground. "Get your ass up out of that dirt and stand in that line at attention 'till somebody comes tell you what to do."

Hodge, who also has a big respect for Phillips, stood up. "Yes, sir!" He nodded with chin up."General Patton has said that wars are fought with weapons but they are won by men. We are going to win this war because we have the best men." As Phillips said best men, he looked at Steve like he's some kind of joke.

As Phillips explain, Evelyn is watching Steve. Two weeks back he told her that he's going only for a test then they'll see, but she believe in Steve. She know it will be hard for him to fulfill his expectations, so she's more than glad to help him.

Evelyn and Peggy watch as soldiers, including Steve, climb up a rope wall. Everyone are doing great, except for Steve, the poor guy losing his grip and falling backwards with his leg tangling between the ropes.

The soldiers crawl with their unloaded guns under barbed wire, all of them doing great with some struggle, except for Steve, again. Steve has a little problem but he is at least in the middle. One of the men that's right in front of him kicked the wood that was keeping up the wires and they fell in front of Steve, giving him even more trouble to get through.

Every soldier run in sync with others but Steve, who is slower than them and is left behind. After few rounds they stopped by the Agents beside and tall pole with a flag on top. Evelyn, Peggy and the driver sit in the car, but only the two women share words that turn into small conversation."Faster!" Yell from beside them trainer and finally the soldiers stopped, breathing heavily. As trainer told them what he wants from them, everyone tried to climb up the pole and take the flag, although none of them has that luck and strenght.

"Come on, get up there!" Yelled at them trainer. They tried it again, before trainer called them back for run and like that they boarded. Steve, on the other hand, walked up to the pole and looked up at the flag.

"Rogers! I said fall in!" Steve ignored him either way and easily removed the iron from the pole that held it up and it fell down with thund. As Evelyn watch, the corners of her lips turn upwards. Yeah, not everything is about strenght and muscle. Work smarter, not harder. Steve took the flag then walked up to trainer, handing it to him then sitting beside his best friend in the car.

"I knew you are smart, but this blew them off." WIth her head Evelyn gestured behind them at the group of shocked and dumbfounded faces, causing Steve to smile smugly to himself. Peggy smiled at him and he smiled at her genuine smile.

"I need to talk to you later." Steve whisper in Evy's ear and she nodded, understanding. She knows exactly about what he wants to talk. It's simple.

It finally turned dark, reaching late hour of evening when soldiers sit in hall, eating tonight's dinner. Evelyn made her way to where Steve stays for sleep, as he didn't attend dinner, so she guess he stayed there. She knocked on the door, waiting for someone on other side to give her permission to enter. From the other side she heard simple 'come in' and so she opens the door, only to see Steve sitting on his bed, obviously waiting for her.

"Hi Steve." Evelyn greet him like it's another day in Brooklyn.

"Hi." Unlike her, Steve's tone is only something above a whisper. The woman with young looks sat on the other bed across from him and they fell into awkward silence, none of them knowing how to begin, or at least Steve's trying to find the right words.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Finally the silence is broken by Steve, Evelyn only sighing.

"Because of the same reason you didn't tell Bucky before he left. Besides, we barely seen each other those two weeks. You were God knows where doing something while I had Peggy, I mean Agent Carter, prepare me for this high position." Evelyn threw back an answer.

"And the times when we were together?" Steve pushed, raising both of his eyebrows at her as if she had all the time in world to tell him the news he found out about just today.

"There's wasn't any right time to bring it up. Give me break." The only the vampire did is roll her sea-blue eyes that look pitch black under this weak light of lamp, the only source giving them any light.

"Still you could tell me. Give a call or send me a note." The tiny guy doesn't stop looking for reason that could put Evelyn at the blame. Even if she were, she wouldn't really care.

"That'd be stupid. Besides, it was nice surprise, wasn't it? You won't be here all alone." She smirk, leaning slightly forward. Many people would gasp in horrify upon hearing her unladylike talking, only Steve and Bucky being the ones used to her own methods of talking, dressing and behaving. It's just what makes her herself.

"How come you are an Agent instead of a soldier?" It's question that been tugging on Steve's strings for days, ever since his smaller best friend showed up in uniform for Agents and walking beside Peggy Carter. The smirk Evelyn had already on only widen, puffing out her chest proudly.

"Originally I was signed up as a soldier, but when Agent Carter and Stark saw my skills, knowledge of guns and that I learn fast, they suggested I take place as second Agent in command. Believe me when I say I screamed 'Yes' at the whole building when they asked me if I'm up for that place." A chuckle leaves her at the memory of almost three weeks ago, and she hear very quiet one leave Steve as well.

"I can see you doing exactly that." The blonde nod, glancing down for a second. "Does Bucky know?" Evelyn gives him a look that says 'you out of your mind?'

"And are you crazy? As soon as he'd come back, he would have my head. You know how much he was against the idea." Evy's shoulders visibly drop, her expression showing clearly how much she misses the man able to kill ladies with his handsome looks and charming words. She don't remember when, or if the bed ever felt so cold and empty before meeting Bucky, if being honest.

"True. But you know, he might be actually proud, that you made it at such high put place. And I'm too." Finally his words aren't dry or prepared for arguments, doing the opposite like as melting Evy's cold heart. She switches from sitting across from him to be right beside him, nudging his shoulder.

"He's gonna be proud of you too, idiot." He smiles and she return it, putting her head on his shoulder. "You know what? I miss him so fucking much." The next thing she knows is flick on her forehead.

"Oww!"

"Language. What would Bucky say if he heard you cussing so much?" Steve ask like grandparent scolding their grandchild and using his parents to make them restrain from doing exactly that. Maliciousness sparks in Evy's eyes before she open her mouth and easily gross her best friend, one of her useless talents.

"He would make me scream more until I begin screaming his name-."

"Evelyn!" The raven-haired woman bend in waist, eyes squeezed shut as loud, unadulterated laughter fills the room, and even though he's disgusted, Steve can't help but crack amused grin, the mood set for fun and laughter. It's cut short when there's heard a knock, Evelyn immediately shutting up and sitting straight.

"Come in." The door open and in step Dr. Erskine, a genuis that also voted for Evelyn to be an Agent than simple soldier. She met him two or three times through her two training weeks. Once Erskine sees Steve is alone, he stops in his steps.

"Am I interrupting something?" Evelyn only shook her head.

"Not at all. Only friend talk. I'm already leaving, either way." Turning in her seat, she gives Steve a quick hug.

"See you later, Stevie." Like always, the blonde roll his eyes in return and they let go of each other.

"See you later, kid." Now it's her turn to roll eyes, before pushing his shoulder playfully and standing up. She gives Erskin a quick nod and walk outside into the dark night, her body unaffected by the cold wind sweeping her hair back. Her head lean back to look at the full moon staring stright down at her and she inhales fresh air, shoulders dropping.

"Please, come back to me."
