I was enjoying this way too much.

The realisation didn't dawn on me until my hand was wrapped around the last of the last infiltrator, lifting her in the air. Maybe it was the fact that she was trying to attack children when I found her. Maybe it was because I had nothing but anger slithering in my veins, fueling my killing intent. Maybe it was the overwhelming knowledge of what their organisation had done over the years. Whatever it was, I decided from the moment my eyes had opened that they didn't deserve mercy.

Not like they wanted it. Even now, the woman stared down at me with eyes clouded in so much admiration and love, it was almost unreal. She wanted me to kill her. Like most of them, it was the most honourable way to die. Yet, it served only to make me hate myself more because I knew I was the reason why all of this had ever started in the first place.

Placing my finger on her pulse, I felt a wave of energy go through my arm and pass into her. Instantly, she went limp and I dropped her lifeless body to the ground. I stared at it for a while and when the satisfaction of taking care of the pests settled in the pit of my stomach, I turned my attention to the trembling children that were holding onto each other, their tear-stained faces embedding into my brain unashamedly. The house behind them was almost destroyed and under the pile of wood and rubble, the bodies of their parents laid underneath it.

I had to be quick and do something about that.

I watched as the little green protection bubble I had put around them disappeared slowly and felt myself visibly relax. My blood lust slowly reduced and I was finally able to breathe normally again.

"Hey. It's okay now." I said, trying to sound as soft as possible as I bent down and stretched my arms forward, "Let's get you two out of here."

They ran straight into my arms and clung to me like their lives depended on it. They were scared out of their minds. They had every right to be. The night had taken a turn for the worst. I walked through the now town, wrecked from one end to another, with bodies littered all around. As if sensing that everything wasn't okay to look at, they kept their heads buried into my shoulder as they cried softly.

I sighed softly, looking up at the full moon and feeling the urge to flip it off. However, I couldn't do that when my hands were full, so that would have to wait. I picked up my speed and in seconds, was with the large group of people huddled together, covered under the blanket of large trees with warriors flanking every side. Their presence was unnerving as they worriedly looked around.

Allowing a mark to be put on me by an Alpha meant that I now had a soul tie to them. Their feelings were mine as well. So, I felt the raw terror they held. I felt their fears coming alive and the feeling of loss as well as their hopes that this would be over soon.

The soft earth crunched under my bare feet quietly, but their many heads turned to me as I approached. Gently, I put the children down and stood to my full height to scan the crowd. I caught sight of Freddie first, before seeing Astelle's blonde mess of hair. They worked themselves through the crowd, towards me.

"Ava? Are you alright?" Astelle shouted out, as people parted for her to easily reach me. She and Freddie stopped right in front of me, scanning me with worried gazes

"I'm fine." I answered, trying to give them a reassuring smile, "Why is everyone staring? Staring more than usual..."

"Maybe because you're glowing." Freddie said, "Your eyes are glowing white."

Oh. I had totally forgotten about that.

"Are they gone?" I asked, feeling my hair drop to my shoulders. They nodded in response and finally, Astelle pulled me in for a hug as I chuckled. "Sorry. Still trying to get the hang of it."

She pulled away and looked at me with eyes filled with tears. I wanted to tell her I really was okay, but I was anything but. Still, keeping my patience at this crucial time was all I needed. There was no time for me to dwell on how messed up I actually was.

"You're not bleeding or anything?" Freddie asked, his eyes scanning my face. There were bags under his eyes, heavy and dark. He seemed that he had aged years in the time I had been asleep

"I'm not capable of getting hurt." That was a lie. I was. Just not in the way he could imagine, "I'm going to need you guys to still hang out here. There's something I have to do."

"But, what about everyone else?" Astelle asked, "We haven't seen Don or Ben or anyone."

"They're safe." I had made sure they would be. Ben, Maria and Donovan were luckily next to me when I had woken up. Through the slight chaos of me abruptly getting up from the bed and claiming I was going to kill people, they had been put under my protective bubble and wherever Smith and Cassie were, so had they. Even though I hadn't set my eyes on them, I was confident that they were alright.

I turned to walk back towards the direction I came but felt Astelle's cold hand clamp down on my arm. I looked back at her and felt that she was trembling slightly.

"You're going to come back, right?" she asked quietly

Everyone in the area was listening. Her voice might have been low, but I could bet that everyone heard her loud and clear.

"I promise." I replied

Going to where Xander was was the next thing to do. I allowed my feet to leave the ground, and my body to guide me towards him and I did find him, tossing a body into a pile with one hand as he spoke to Cole and Sterling that were with him. His head turned in an uncomfortable way to look at me coming closer and my heart went erratic. Still, I walked up to them like it was the most normal thing in the world and smiled.

"Good job." I said, staring at the pile of dead bodies behind them, "Everyone is safe and doing well and I took care of the last person."

Cole was visibly shocked. Sterling still didn't know how to speak to me. I expected their reactions though. They had witnessed me taking down people without too much bloodshed and in a little amount of time. Heck, the me of a year ago would have been impressed by the amount of wrath I had brought down.

Xander opened his mouth to speak but I raised my hand and shook my head.

"Please just hear me out. I need the bodies of everyone in the pack that has died assembled in one place." I said

Xander stared at me with levelled eyes before finally answering, "And why would you need that little mate?"

"Isn't it obvious?"

Clearly, it wasn't as they stared at me like I had grown 5 heads.

I tilted up my head to look at the moon once more and took in a deep breath, feeling confident about what I needed to do. A memory of a few months back filtered into my mind as I recalled the words of a specific psychopath that was rotting away in the detention centre.

"I'm going to bring them back."

"What?"

"Before their souls are gone, Alexander. I'll explain later."
