Type: concept/Headcannon

What sets it apart from Original species: just a few biological tweaks. [And by a few I mean a lot.]

Why this was created: ...this is just my version of the concept.

--[before birth]--

● how they are created is by touching gemstones together in a moment of genuine love and intimacy or the other way.

● gemling can be seen as light spots in gemstones after a week of formation. However, they're hardly visible, so it would require a magnifying glass or for someone with sharp eyes.

● the gemling's energy manifests into a temporary womb where the gemlings develop for 9 months like a normal human infants would.
° however, instead of umbilical cords, they feed off the carrier's core/gemstone energy, which causes lethargy.

● the mother is dubbed a carrier and the "father" is dubbed the sire.

● signs of a gem carrying gemlings is: they get increased appetites; craving food and non-food substances, increased lethargy, impulsive nesting, territorial and mood swings. Most of the time, they'll mostly be tired and will mainly nest and sleep.

● first time sires will gain intense protective feral instincts, to the point where it is almost lethal to approach their carrier and litter. This may cause their form projections to react to these feelings by altering their forms to adapt to this feral mindset.

° This involves their hair thickening into a mane-like style, lengthening and sharpening their teeth into fangs, sharpening their fingertips into claws and bulking up their bodies into a quartz-like build. If they have post corruption horns, then those will lengthen as well. This is dubbed "semi-corruption" or "Sire's corruption".

° They will have feral tendencies, such as running on all-fours and snarling. They will become distant from others and focus on keeping their carrier safe and nourished until the gemlings are old enough to walk and talk.

--[after birth]--

● the gemlings are born manually like human birth.

● the gemlings have feral/animalistic behaviorism and only communicate through an array of sounds, depending on the gem type.

● gemlings feed on nutrients from their carriers until they are around 6 months old. After which, the sire will bring them food until they are able to do so themselves.

● after about a 8 months they'll start behaving more like a human toddler and will develop as such.

● gemling production was banned during era 1 due to the immense amount of care and attention they required, as well as the space they took up.
• after era 3 had passed, gemlings were allowed again.

● the smaller the gem type, the bigger the litter will be.

● pearls are more likely to lay geodes.
