Chapter 2

"So, what do you want to do?" You ask. Loki thinks for a moment. "I was planning on going to my quarters and reading away from everyone," he says bluntly. Your heart drops in your stomach, but you're not quite sure why. "Okay. Well, I can give you some of my books if you want..." You trail off. "I'd... I'd quite like that, Lady Y/N," Loki says, turning a light shade of pink. You walk up the stairs together and enter your bedroom. You're a bit embarrassed as Loki sees it's decorated green and gold, a bit of a worship to him. "S-sorry, I'm a bit of a fan. Thor speaks highly of you," you stutter. Loki looks at a painting you did of him and walks closer to it. "I like it. Someone that doesn't hate me, finally," Loki says. Your heart drops again. "Well, help yourself to any of my books. Just make sure you give them back after you're done," you say. Loki searches through your extensive collection and finally decides on a certain novel about a boy wizard. "Lady Y/N, do you mind if I read in here since everyone else is gone?" Loki asks after a moment of silence.
"I don't mind."
Loki sits on your couch and buries himself into the novel. You decide to get a book yourself, (insert favorite novel). You don't realize how much time has passed until your stomach growls. You check your smart watch and the time reads 6:21 pm. "Oh, geez! It's dinner time already!" You leap from your bed. "Can't it wait until I'm done?" Loki complains.
"Sorry, Loki. You have to come down with me. You can finish that after."
Loki scoffs and walks downstairs with you. As you make (insert favorite dinner food), Loki thumps his fingers on the counter. "Why did they make you watch me? I am a god!" He whines. "I don't know. Look, I may be having to watch you, but that doesn't mean I'm not fun. Would you like to watch a movie after dinner?" You suggest.
"After I'm done reading my--your--book?"
"Yes. I'll put on a movie and we can have some hot chocolate."
Loki perks up and considers this. "Very well, Lady Y/N." You finish making dinner and serve it. Loki finds your cooking extremely delectable and licks the plate clean. As soon as he finishes, he heads back up to your room to finish the book. You follow him up and flop on your bed, reading more of (insert favorite novel).
Loki peers over your book and smirks. "Y/N, darling. I'm done," he says. Your heart flutters in your chest. You toss the book to the side and exit your room, Loki following close behind you. You go to the kitchen and heat up some hot chocolate, while Loki waits for you on the couch. "Alright what movie would you like to watch?" You ask. You hold up three movies-- Beauty and the Beast, Halloween, and (insert favorite movie). Loki thinks for a moment and after looking through each he picks Halloween. "A classic," you laugh. You place the DVD in the player and turn the TV on.
The movie is just beginning when the phone rings. You pause the movie and pick up. "Oh, hey Tony!" You cheerfully say. "Hey, kid! Everything going alright there?" Tony asks.
"Everything is great. We ate dinner not long ago and now we are watching Halloween."
"Reindeer Games giving you any trouble?"
"Not at all. We've just been reading."
Tony is clearly surprised by what you've said. He clears his throat and says, "Well...I suppose I'll let you go now. We'll be back in two days if everything goes according to plan."
"Alright. Bye, Tony."
"Bye, Y/N. Have a good night."
You hang up and place your phone down. You are a bit annoyed by what Tony said about Loki, assuming that he's giving you trouble but you start the movie anyway.
The movie seems to drag on a lot longer than an hour and a half. The hot chocolate makes you sleepy, and before you know it, you're half asleep and leaning against Loki. A final jump scare makes you bolt up. "Oh gods! Sorry, Loki," you frantically apologize.
"For what? I was enjoying that."
"Oh please."
You move to the other side of the couch and skip through the end credits. "I'm going to bed," you announce. Loki follows you up the stairs and to your bedroom. You don't notice until you shut your door on him. "Ow..." He says, rubbing his head. "Aah! Well, serves you right for sneaking up on me like that!" You squeak.
"Sneak? Darling, I was with you the whole time."
"Gods, you are quiet. Well, I'm afraid you're going to have to leave because I'm changing. I'm sure they have respectable rules like that on Asgard."
Loki runs his eyes over you then waves his hand. A flash of green light appears then you are changed in an oversized Black Sabbath tee and green yoga pants. "Uh, you are aware that the shirt is Tony's, right?" You ask. Loki nods and tells you, "But Tin Can Man won't be back for two days." You shrug and go into the bathroom, shutting and locking the door. You brush your teeth with (insert toothpaste flavor) and wash your face. You brush your (hair color) hair and open the door. "Night, Loki," you yawn as you crawl into bed. You pull the covers over you. Loki bites his lip. "Y/N, would you like me to leave or stay?" He asks. This is probably the most awkward you've ever seen him.
"You can stay if you want on the couch. We're both adults so it's hardly scandalous."
Loki takes a golden velvet blanket off the bottom of your bed and lays down on the couch. You curl up and try to fall asleep but you are kept awake by Loki tossing and turning. "You okay?" You yawn.
"I'm fine. Can't sleep."
"Oh. Need one of my melatonin chews?"
"No, I'll be fine."
You sigh and turn over. You soon fall asleep, thinking how the team will be back in just a day. You think about your abilities, and how you hope the team is alright. You fall asleep soundly.
The next morning, you wake up on your own. You attempt to wake Loki up, but he is exhausted. "I told you that you could've had one of my chews!" You tell him off. He turns to face you and his eyes are bloodshot. "Come on, you need sleep. I'll bring breakfast up to you," You say. You help Loki into your bed. In a matter of moments, he falls asleep. You can't help but think he looks a bit adorable.
You walk downstairs to get yourself breakfast. As you walk into the kitchen, you hear your phone buzzing. You pick it up, and it's Tony. "Oh, hey Tony," you yawn.
"Hey, kiddo. Did I wake you?"
"Nah, I was up. Don't be loud though, Loki's still sleeping."
"Fine. Be careful. We'll be back tomorrow afternoon."
"Alright. Bye, Tony."
"Bye, kiddo. We all love and miss you."
You tell him bye one last time and hang up. You know that even though Tony can sometimes be a pain, he's like a father to you. He's always been a father to you since you were adopted by the Avengers. You decide to make chocolate chip muffins for breakfast. You pull out some premade muffins out of thin air and eat three. You place some on a plate and bring them upstairs. Loki is still fast asleep so you lightly tap his shoulder. His jaw is clenched and it looks like he's having a nightmare...but far worse. You listen closely and you can make out some words... Jotunheim, monsters...You sit on the bed next to him. "Loki? Loki, wake up!" You shout.
He jolts awake and presses a dagger against your throat. Your breathing becomes ragged. "Loki...it's me. You're okay," you gasp. He drops the dagger and sets his head on your shoulder. "Y/N, I am so sorry. I didn't know it was you," he says. You feel warm tears drop onto your shoulder. He's crying. "It's okay. I'm here," you simply say. You break away and present him with the muffins.
"Want some breakfast? Made them myself."
"Is that...chocolate? Oh you know me too well."
He eagerly takes a muffin and devours it, making a mess all over the covers. "Hey! You're getting crumbs all over the bedspread!" You laugh. Loki stares at you for a moment, then crumbles a whole muffin all over the bed. Your jaw drops. You proceed to shove him off the bed and tell him, "Go get a vacuum! I can't have ants in here!"
"Ugh, you are so incorrigible. It's only a few crumbs."
Instead of getting the vacuum, Loki waves his hand and the crumbs disappear. "Happy now?" He asks sarcastically. "Very. Now let's head downstairs."
