It was the day that Antonio Madrigal got his gift and the whole town was rushing here and there to get everything sorted. This would be one of the biggest days of his life after all. You had been told to hang up rows of banners and bunting all over town while Rosa went over to the casita to help Julieta bake food for afterwards. Everyone was giddy with excitement and you couldn't help but feel the same. You had met the young boy quite a few times while with Mirabel, there was no doubt that he was the cutest! It made you smile just thinking about him. Taking a step back, you admired your handy work. The decorations you had assisted with were slightly wonky but you were proud non the less. A couple of the towns folk thanked you for your help as you decided to go up and see your 'mother' and friends at their home. You bounded up the hill, the sound of hustle and bustle only getting louder the closer you got. Casita opened the doors for you and you were met with the whole Madrigal family running round like a pack of wild animals. Plants were everywhere and as you walked further into the house, a flurry of flowers landed on your head. You brushed most of them off and began to look for any way to help. Somewhere in the distance, you could hear Mirabel muttering about her annoying sister but your attention was drawn away from her to another member of the family. Camilo was stood laughing at you.
You folded your arms and shot him an annoyed look. "What?" He grinned and sauntered over to you, picking a stray, pink petal out of your hair. "Is this a new fashion trend? A word of advise, this shade of pink really isn't your colour." His grin only got wider when you swatted his hand away and rolled your eyes. "Maybe it would look better on you!" You smirked before throwing a whole bouquet in his face. The boy spluttered, and locked eyes with you. This was war. Camilo grabbed a handful of blossoms and dumped them on you. You countered this by sticking a flurry of roses in his bouncy hair. However, your face paled as you saw the giant sunflower he had picked up. Yelling, you started to run away but he caught up with you, pouncing on you. "Give up Y/n!" He smirked, brandishing the plant like a sword. You looked around for any way to escape but soon found that you were cornered. "I-" You began but stopped when you saw Isabela standing behind Camilo.
She was fuming. "You two!" She snapped, causing her younger cousin to jump. "If you are here then you are here to help. Now stop playing around and take this seriously!" Both of you nodded and the boy dropped his 'weapon' with a sigh. The woman left with a dramatic flic of her hair before you caught Camilo's gaze. He pulled a stupid face and bit his lip, holding his chin in his hand. You snorted and elbowed his ribs gently. "Weirdo." You teased and he pouted. Together, you made your way back to where the family was situated. "Oh I just remembered," You turned to the boy, "I got you this." He looked at you curiously as you handed him the chameleon patch you bought yesterday. He inspected it before giving you a big smile. "Thanks Y/n, I've been wanting to spice up my outfit recently so this is perfect!" You returned the smile. "Good, I'm glad you like it." He looked like he wanted to say something else but stopped himself before he could say it. "Anyway, you should go and check on Mirabel." He scratched the back of his neck and laughed, "I've just seen some kids go up to the window to talk to her." You nodded, saying that was probably a good idea. After arranging to meet up that afternoon at Antonio's celebration, you left him to go and find your friend. As you walked past Pepa and Dolores, you couldn't help but notice them giggling and looking in your direction. Weird.
"What's your gift?" You heard a boy ask as you entered the kitchen. Mirabel replied, "who's asking?" He looked confused. Laughing a little, you prepared yourself for what was to come. "Draws!" Mirabel sang, "Floors. Doors. Let's go!" The casita helped her out by flapping it's doors and rattling the tiles. Soon your friend had burst into song, describing her family and all their gifts to the onlooking villager's children. You danced along, hyping up Mirabel and even adding a few of your own lines into the song. After a while, the madrigal tied to leave but the kids wouldn't let her. They were adamant to know what her gift was. She tried to run but where ever she went, the children followed. Eventually, Mirabel grabbed your hand and dragged you back to her house. Suddenly, a loud voice called out to her. "Mirabel! What are you doing?" It was Abwela. One child yelled back, "She was just about to tell us about her super awesome gift!" To which her cousin Dolores replied, "Oh Mirabel didn't get one." She squeaked and hurried away. Rolling your eyes, you turned to the small trouble makers. "Okay guys, you need to get back home before your parents get worried." Slowly, they nodded and turned, making their way back down to the village. Finally! As you began to follow Mirabel back inside, a recognisable voice stopped you. It was that oh so annoying firework man. Once again, he started to ramble on about the gifts and how Mirabel wasn't special. She took the large box from him and sighed. This guy just wouldn't stop! Eye twitching, fists shaking, you walked up to the inconsiderate man. In a moment of fury, you slapped his face.
Mirabel gasped. The man looked shocked. You ran. Hurriedly, you darted back inside the casita and your friend followed you. "Y/n what was that?!" She asked you, not sure weather to feel happy or horrified. You held back a laugh, "I have no idea, serves him right though!" Mirabel shook her head but you caught a glimpse of a small smile on her face. You grinned and she rolled her eyes, leading you to the centre of the casita where everyone was in a panic. Pepa had created a mini storm while her poor husband tried to calm her down, ranting about the flowers. "Did someone say flowers?" All heads turned to see Isabella lowering herself to the ground floor on a long, slender vine. They all applauded her as new bunches of flowers started appearing everywhere. You sensed Mirabel's discomfort and was about to say something when you realised that she had already walked off. Never mind then. You guessed you would just have to find something else to do. Looking around, you spotted Dolores struggling to move a flower pot. Just as you began to go over to her, a pare of hands covered your eyes from behind you. "Guess who!"
