"We're here for Mare and Aqua Barrow"

The 2 girls stared at each other, and held hands, awaiting their fate. "You have been sent for from the palace. Congratulations, you two now have jobs!" The family lets out a breath, slightly relieved but still afraid. Were they going too... serve silvers?

Great, they were. Aqua and Mare frowned on the way to the palace, tense and afraid. They would be in the belly of the beast now, as red maids. At least they could support their family... but would they ever see them again? Aqua shuddered at the thought, and Mare held her hand. She was the older sister after all. Aqua would always be the middle child, currently. Not that that mattered.

It was queenstrial today, and the two girls expected dancing and frilly dresses for the silver girls wanting to impress the future king, the crown prince. Aqua rolled her eyes, and she put on her maid uniform alongside Mare. Be calm, be calm... If Aqua was ever found out, she would die. And now, she was amongst silvers that could kill her in a second. This was a dangerous game she was playing.

Then, the royal family came onto their stand. The crown prince was... the boy from yesterday? Cal? Aqua felt fear. She had talked to the crown prince and almost stole from him! He could have killed her! Wait... did he get her this job? 

Aqua shook her head and focused on serving. Silvers are evil, he probably had other intentions. 

They served some spoiled and snooty silvers while watching in awe as silver girls showed off their powers. Deep down, Aqua longed to be like them, live a good life, not have to worry about her blood anomaly, being conscripted or anyone in her family dying.

Finally, the last girl came up. She looked fearless and flawless. The arena she was supposed to present in was destroyed, so the girl didn't have much to work with. Mare and Aqua watched in anticipation, wondering why the family they were currently serving thought she was going to win.

The girl began to pull the stands made out of metal. Magnetron. Aqua trembled. Well, not Aqua. The stand she was on was being moved. Aqua let out a squeak of surprise and Mare stared at her with wide eyes. Slowly, it began to tip. Aqua launched herself at Mare, who was toppling over the edge. But she couldn't hold on. Mare was falling right into the lightning shield. "Mare!" yelled Aqua as Mare fell onto the shield. It sparked and Aqua expected Mare to slump over. But... she was fine. Mare was alive, even though she was surrounded by lightning. Aqua began to run down the stairs pushing and shoving through annoyed silvers. She watched as the magnetron girl threw some metal spikes at Mare, and Mare shot lightning right back at her. Mare stared at her hands in awe, unsure what to do. Finally, Aqua made it down, grabbed her, and began to run. "Guards, grab them!" yelled the king. Fueled by adrenaline and fear, Mare and Aqua ran faster than ever before, but eventually, they were cornered. 

The guards and Cal, the crown prince, had surrounded them. Mare tried to attack them with lightning, but she was already exhausted and passed out. "Give up, surrender," said Cal, looking apologetic. Aqua tried to wake up Mare. Suddenly, the sentinels came closer and closer. Cal's hands sparked, igniting flame.

Aqua backed away. This was too much... too much. She felt a surge of power, and everything felt... wrong, but right at the same time. For the first time in her whole life, Aqua felt truly alive. Her hands... they were glowing. It only took her a second to figure out what this meant. At that moment, she let loose. It was chaos. Cal's fire steamed as it was met with a shield of water. It started to flood at a rapid pace and the sentinels tried to stop it. Black clouds were inside the room, raining, adding to the flood. But in the end, Aqua couldn't control it, and it took away her energy. She collapsed, and it all went black. 

The last thing she saw was her blood, staining the floor, and Cal's bronze eyes, looking afraid.

She woke up in a cage, in front of the throne room, right next to Mare. Everything was fuzzy, and Aqua couldn't focus. She coughed, coughing up blood. Rose gold blood. Her blood. And right in front of the royal family.

They whispered, unsure what to do. Then, the queen came up to them and told them to kneel. Both girls refused, but they ended up kneeling. The whisper queen made them. 

She began to enter their minds ripping through information and memories in the blink of an eye. Aqua winced and closed her eyes, trying to block her, but it wasn't very effectful. 

"What are you?" snapped Elara, glaring at Aqua. Aqua laughed coldly. "Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you" 

"Feisty, aren't you? Good thing I already know" said the queen, smirking. "I bet you've been wondering your whole entire miserable life what you are. Well, I'll put you out of some of your misery. You are a mix between silver and ... someone else like your lOvLeY sister over there. Which silver would stoop so low, I wouldn't know, but your parents are long gone. It makes sense that you are adopted" says Elara, looking very smug and haughty. 

Mare looked at Aqua, and then at Elara. "Wait- me?" "Yes you,  you rat. You are a mix of silver and red blood. Must be somewhere in the family. These silvers have no taste these days" Mare and Aqua sit there, confused. Silver and red? Silver and ... whatever Mare is? What?

"Anyway, I really wish I could get rid of you, but, since all silvers saw, that isn't happening. Forget your family, forget your names, forget your blood. You are no longer 2 red rats. You are now silvers, long-lost silver sisters. And you will be betrothed to my son, Maven, and Tiberias the 7th." says Elara, frowning. 

"What!?!" say the 2 princes. Elara waves a hand at them. "From now on, you are Mareena and Aquamarine Titanos, long-lost silvers. Red in the head, silver in the heart"

Mare and Aqua stare at each other, disgusted with the situation.
