draken still clutched his stomach ten minutes later, when him, mikey and takemichi were sat on a set of steps, basking in what remained of the sunlight as it beat down on them, orange streaks stretching across the skyline.

"that was hilarious," draken said, irking takemichi.

mikey lay next to him with his hands behind his head, reflecting his childishness. "haven't laughed that hard in forever!"

"i washed my hair, okay?!" takemichi grumbled. he was telling the truth, too - the boy had actually gone home and had a shower before meeting with the group again at his local park.

"i'm sorry, mikey." draken spoke suddenly, turning rather serious.

"it's cool," mikey smiled, "i'm sorry, too."

takemichi was struck by their maturity, glad that they were able to apologize to each other; even if it had been at his expense.

"why were you guys fighting, anyway?" he inquired.

a moment of silence followed, and takemichi wondered if he should have asked to begin with. but he was relieved when both the boys shrugged. "i forgot," they claimed.

a sense of alleviation was restored in takemichi at their shared words. he could finally breathe again, after days of being constantly on edge.

mikey and draken's fight was over - meaning that now there would be no more internal conflict. no more death. no bad future. he'd really done it.

"kenchin's right, though," mikey said suddenly, surprising takemichi when he stood up beside him. "pah gave himself up, after all."

the blond's eyes fell to the ground suddenly, guilt swirling within them like two dark, beautiful, whirlpools. "y/n said the same thing. she told me, 'pah made the decision to face the consequences of his actions, which is living proof of how moral he is. despite being blinded by rage, he did the honorable thing and gave himself up.'"

a small, surprised smile crossed over draken's lips. he was grateful you'd made an attempt to redirect mikey onto the right path, despite not having much reason to.

after all this time being in the dark, takemichi's eyes widened in realization at what the fight was about. instead of being about something petty, it had been about pah.

'mikey didn't want pah to give himself up for what he did, even though he knew that'd be wrong', takemichi understood, 'mikey wanted to help his friend, pah. draken didn't want pah's decision to go quietly in vain... so, maybe that's why they started fighting. they're both based on solid principles...'

takemichi was brought out of his thoughts when mikey turned, giving him a gentle, closed-eye smile. he promised, "when pah gets out... let's have a huge party."

the boy's words warmed takemichi's heart as a trusting smile grew across his pinkish lips. how could toman ever turn evil with someone like him leading them?
