Daitan and Shinichi are still sleeping. They are both sleeping in the same room but on different beds at Daitan's house.

"What is that?" Shinichi is the first one to wake up from the loud sound so he checked what it is through the window
"I'm still sleepy!!! Wtf" Daitan mumbled the last part
"Can't you be a bit quieter? Professor Agasa!" Shinichi yelled from the second floor
"Oh! I just wanted to wake you both up! How was that? Isn't it better than an alarm clock?" Professor smiled at them when he saw Daitan's pop-up beside Shinichi
"This is quite a large book collection here!" Professor said when they went to the library of Shinichi "Ah! Since your dad has read all of these books, it's no surprise that he's a world-famous mystery writer" Professor Agasa said while Daitan is cleaning and treating his wounds
"Please stay still, Professor!" She said when the professor looked everywhere to see the books
"Oh, sorry about that"
"What was that morning experiment about?" -Shinichi
"I'll tell you... but you can't tell anyone else! This is a secret between the three of us!" he pushed himself a little away from Daitan then showed his experiment "This device is a prototype rocket pack for humans! If it works, traffic problems will be solved! And I'll become rich! Ha ha ha..."
When he put his hands down, he accidentally turned on the switch for the rocket pack. He started to fly and went straight to the bookshelves.
"...but it doesn't work..." Shinichi deadpanned while Daitan just chuckled

"Damn! that kids..." he punched the newspaper that had Shinichi and Daitan's face but got hurt instead
"Try to control yourself, dad!" Ran scolded her father
"It's all because he uses the role of a high school student to be a detective... that my business has gone!" -Kogoro
"You can't help it... Shinichi and Daitan is just really good!" -Ran
"But I need to make a living!" he ripped the newspaper to pieces
"I'm going..." -Ran
"Go wherever you want!" -Kogoro

"The Great Duo Shimizu Daitan and Kudo Shinichi have been dubbed the Sherlock Holmes of the '90s!" said the television "The savior of The Japanese police!"
Shinichi and Daitan are walking by the television so they heard it. Shinichi is looking smug while Daitan still has her calm and elegant posture and face
"It's Kudo Shinichi and Shimizu Daitan! They look so charismatic and charming!" squealed the girls nearby "I want to write him a love letter!" again, they heard it too
Just as Shinichi is about to boast, be smug, and laugh, a bag went flying in their direction so Daitan stepped back a bit and Shinichi was hit
"What are you doing? Looking like an idiot by laughing for no reason? Be like Daitan and do not react to those you hear!" Ran said which made Daitan chuckle
"Are you angry about something, Ran?" -Shinichi
"No, it's just that thanks to you, my dad's business has gone down a lot. I'm a little uncomfortable" Ran stuck out her tongue
"Why are you not blaming Daitan! And don't blame me for your dad's lack of work. It's only because he doesn't have enough skill..." hearing that, Ran laughed sarcastically then punched the wall beside Shinichi. Before her fist even came contact with the wall, Daitan caught it then gently caress her fist
"Ran, be careful. Your fist might bleed" -Daitan
"Thanks! So... like I said... I'm not angry" she said then chuckled
Shinichi looked at the smoke that is made when Daitan caught Ran's fist "No wonder you're the captain of the karate team... and training since young helped a lot, right Daitan" she just nod in response
All three of them started to walk to the school when a stray soccer ball rolled towards Shinichi. He caught it then kicked it towards the goal.
"If you didn't quit the football team, you would've been a hero on the national team by now" -Ran
"She got a point you know" -Daitan
"I only play football for the physical exercise, which is essential for a detective" -Shinichi
"Just like Holmes --- he enjoyed fencing!" Daitan said while Shinichi just nod
"That's only in a story" -Ran
"But... he's a famous detective that everybody knows! He's amazing! No matter what the situation is, he remains calm..." -Daitan
"He has the knowledge and principle. His sharp observations and his keen deductions are first-class. His violin skill is also brilliant and matches that of a professional!" -Shinichi
"Written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a novelist, Sherlock Holmes is the world's best detective!" -Daitan
"If you both like it so much, why don't you both become a mystery writer, like Shinichi's dad? Wouldn't that be better?
"I don't want to write ABOUT a detective, I want to BE a detective!" both Shinichi and Daitan said, "To become the Sherlock Holmes of the '90s!"
"The feeling of forcing a criminal into a corner... it's really exciting!" Daitan squealed
"You only need to be a detective once... then you'll know how it feels! Look!!! These are all letters written by detective fans! See how popular detectives are?" -Shinichi
"... but your mind is probably full of girls, why don't you be serious with just one? And Daitan is not receiving any, see?" -Ran
"I'm sorry, Ran but I am also receiving some, I'm just not telling you" Daitan nervously took out some letters, and Ran just deadpanned at her
"Serious with just one?" Shinichi looked at the sky for a while then looked at Ran
He didn't notice the sadness that passed by Daitan's eyes.
"Why are you looking at me?" Ran slightly blushed
'I know you like Daitan. You said it to me yourself. Why can't you just tell her and stop giving me hope' Ran thought
"Eh? No... no reason! If we don't hurry, we'll be late!" Shinichi is starting to move towards the school
'Please, don't do this in front of me' Daitan thought but still have a slight smile
"Ah! Wait...!" Ran shouted which made Shinichi turn around "Tomorrow's promise, don't you remember?"
"Promise?" Shinichi questioned which made Daitan facepalm herself
"Didn't we agree that if I won the karate championships, you'd take me to Tropical Land?" Ran started to kick Shinichi while he is just avoiding it
"I... remember..." he said which made Ran stop
"I don't need to go right? Since it's a lover's date" Daitan wiggled her eyebrows teasingly
'Why are you pushing me to another girl?' Shinichi thought
'Shinichi would want you to go' Ran thought
"Nope! You need to go! It won't be fun without you" Ran said then started to drag Daitan inside while Shinichi is scurrying to catch up
