Chapter 5

Clarke POV

I notice Lexa standing up. The sun hasn't even risen yet but she is already awake. 

"You just can't sleep long, am I right?" I ask her with a small smirk on my face. 

Lexa flinches and turns to me. "Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up. I haven't slept much, the past commanders where in my head all the time. They don't like the idea of blood must not have blood but that doesn't matter now. I will have a look at Indra." she answers.

Lexa walks to the tent of Indra and Sion. I stand up and stretch a bit. The tree stump was very uncomfortable. Octavia and Raven leave their tent. I can see that Octavia is annoyed. "Raven must have talked for quite a long time." I think to myself. I walk over to them.

"I should have left the tent with you." begins Octavia the conversation. I giggle. 

"It wasn't comfortable at all to sleep against a tree stump." I assure her.

"At least you spent time with your girl." says Raven. Octavia nearly bursts out laughing but she holds it back.

"She is not my girl! There is nothing between us." I answer with an angry tone in my voice. 

"Yeah sure." Raven replies. If looks could kill, Raven would be dead on the ground. 

Sion comes over to us. "Dismantle everything we continue our way to Polis." she lets us know. I help Octavia taking down the tent. 

"If we ever are in the situation of a fight always listen to me, alright Clarke. When I say left, you go or jump to the left, I don't care how you do it just do it. The same with right or down, just do whatever I tell you." she tells me. 

I nod and continue to help Octavia.

As we finish, we walk over to the horses where Lexa and the other grounders are already waiting. Octavia and Lincoln get on their horse. Sion helps Raven onto their horse and gets on it too afterwards. 

I try to get on my horse by myself but I again can't make it. 

"Let me help you." offers Lexa. I let her help. As I sit on my horse Lexa gives the command that we continue our ride. 

We all ride in silence until Raven breaks it. "My butt hurts so much, is it still far to Polis?" 

I roll my eyes. Raven always has something to complain about.

"Yes." I answer. 

Some time later I hear Raven complaining again. I know that it will only take us about one hour until we are in Polis but before I could say anything I hear a horse scream up. It got shot by an arrow. As everyone realized what happened, chaos breaks out.

"We are under attack!" yells a grounder. I get off my horse like everyone does. I hear swords being drawn out from their sheaths. I take mine too. I don't have much training but I might be able to defend myself for a few minutes. 

I look around and see Lexa's guards already fighting with the attackers. Two of the guards try to defend Indra as good as possible. I try to find Raven. She is the only one who can't really defend herself. I finally find her and see that Octavia is already with her. Suddenly I hear a scream. I turn to my left and see a grounder running towards me. I don't know what to do. One of Lexa's guards steps into his way and tries to defend me. They cross their swords but Lexa's guard loses. The grounder stabs him with his sword. Before the guard falls to the ground he turns to me. "Run..." are the only words that leave his mouth. The grounder who just killed the guard looks at me again. I start to panic and do what the guard told me to do.
