Confusion

I woke up the next morning, still feeling shitty about the night before. I rolled over to check the time on the alarm clock which read 10 AM, and I slowly got out of bed. I hadn't been able to get too much sleep the night before. I couldn't stop thinking about him.

I made my way out of the room and down the stairs. There were still solo cups scattered everywhere from the previous night. And as Julian had guessed, Nick was passed out on the couch in the living room. The television still playing some shitty kiddie show. I chuckled to myself, shaking my head and walking into the kitchen. I grabbed a solo cup from the table, filling it up with water from the faucet before sitting down at the counter. My head was killing me, probably from the never ending thoughts racing through my mind all night and morning. I took a sip from the cup before a tired looking Julian walked in. His hair was messier than usual, and he was still wearing the same outfit from the night before. Minus the leather jacket.

"Good morning." he smiled when he saw me, his voice also being more raspy and deep than usual.

"Morning." I said quietly. Just seeing him made me want to cry all over again. I was embarrassed. But he didn't seem to be bothered by it. Everything still went on normally for him.

He also grabbed a solo cup and filled it with cold water, taking a seat next to me.

"How'd you sleep?" he asked.

I only shrugged, feeling awkward tension. But it wasn't coming from him, only me. Again, he was unbothered.

He just sighed, taking a sip of his drink. "I'm really sorry about last night, Jade."

"It's fine, Jules. You didn't want to-"

I looked over at him, him looking right back at me.

"We were both a little drunk."

What he said confused me and really made me think. I only had a few cups of alcohol. I don't think he was drunk, well, I didn't think he was drunk. I looked over at him and nodded silently, not knowing what to say now.

"I should probably get home soon, I have to work." I said. I had completely forgotten that I was supposed to work tonight.

He looked at me for a moment, then back at his "I'll take you home in a minute."

...

About thirty minutes passed, and Julian was ready to take me home. He decided to take a shower first. By now, I was over the whole thing that happened the night before. I wasn't going to let it ruin what Julian and I already had. I really, really liked him.

I followed him out to the car, and we drove off to my house. I gave him my phone to use for GPS, and we started off to the destination.

Just a few minutes later, we stopped in front of my apartment.

"Thank you." I said, opening the door and getting out of the car. I shut the door, about to walk up to the apartment, when he spoke.

"Wait, Jade." he said, getting out of the car. I looked back, feeling confused as he walked over to me. He stopped, smiling down at me.

His hands moved from his sides my jaw, as he brushed his thumb along my bottom lip. He slowly leaned in, his lips meeting mine. I quickly melted into the kiss, him grabbing onto my dress fabric to pull me closer to him. He pulled away, still inches from my face.

"I'll text you." he said.

I only nodded, watching him walk back over to the drivers side and get into his car. He drove away, and I still stood there, shocked from what had just happened. I brushed my fingers over my lips where his had just been, trying to process everything. I was more than confused, I didn't know what he wanted. I didn't know what I wanted. Whenever I was around him, I lost it. He was driving me insane.

I turned around, walking up the stairs to the apartment building. I turned the key in the lock, opening the door and walking in.

"Hey, you're finally home. Where were you last night?" Simone said, coming into the living room.

I still didn't want to talk to her, but I wasn't as mad as I was the night before.

"You left me behind at the party." I mumbled, but loud enough for her to hear.

"Shit, I'm sorry."

"Doesn't matter." I said, reaching for the remote and turning on the tv.

She decided to ignore my clear annoyance, walking into the kitchen. "Are you hungry?" she asked.

"No, I already ate." I said. "Thank you."

...

By five, it was time for me to go to work. I had already taken a shower, and it felt amazing to get out of that tight ass dress. I grabbed my phone, shoving it into my pocket as I walked out of the apartment.

I walked into the bar, putting my coat on the rack per usual and sliding my apron on. The bar wasn't nearly as busy as it was the other day, which made things a lot easier. I was still only running on a few hours of sleep. I was still thinking about Julian. Last night, the kiss we shared just hours before. Every little thing about him raced through my mind. And then my phone started ringing. I looked down at the contact information, but it only read 'Unknown Number'. I looked at my phone, confused, before slipping out of the side door.

I answered the phone. "Hello?"

"Hey, Jade." a deep, raspy voice called from the other line. I knew that voice from anywhere. It was Julian. "It's Julian."

"Oh, hey." I said, leaning against the wall. I loved listening to his voice. "Why are you calling?"

"I told you I'd call you." he chuckled, causing me to smile.

"Right, right." I said. "But I'm at work."

"I know, I was wondering.." he paused. "Could I come get you after work?"

I was already tired right now and planned on going to sleep after work, but I'd do almost anything to see him.

"Of course. I get off at ten."

"Alright. I'll pick you up then."

"Wait, Julian." I said, before he could hang up.

"Yeah?"

"Where are we going?"

"It's a surprise." he cooed, "I'll see you later."

I heard the other line go silent when he hung up. I bit down on my bottom lip, trying to hide the huge smile that was quickly forming on my face. I put the phone back in my back pocket, then opening the door and walking back into the bar, getting back behind the counter.

...

My shift eventually ended, and I didn't even feel tired anymore. It had gone away after Julian had called me. I was more excited than anything, desperate to find out where we were going.
