About a month and a half had passed since that night with Julian at the beach. We had started getting much closer, spending as much time as possible together. We still weren't anything more than what we were before. We went on dates, but it was obvious that neither of us wanted to rush into a relationship yet.
Well I was ready, but he wasn't. And I respected that. I hadn't bothered to ask him about what Simone brought up that night after I got home, but I didn't feel the need to. I didn't believe what she said. There was no way someone like Julian was capable of hurting someone. That doesn't mean the thought didn't continue to race in my mind.
I was at work again, and it was busy. Busier than the night Julian and I first met busy. It was horrible. Simone had decided to come by the bar today to try and get a job, which she was successful with. Now, unfortunately, I'd have to deal with her for even longer. Being around her was a pain sometimes.
"Guess who just got a job." she said excitedly, as she sat down at the bar.
"I heard." I rolled my eyes, washing the table and cleaning up trash from the last people who were sitting there.
"Well, aren't you excited?" she asked, sarcasm filling her voice.
"Very." I said, causing her to giggle. She was good company when she tried to be.
My phone started buzzing, and I looked down at it. It was Julian.
"Who's that?" Simone asked, as I shook my head.
"I'll be right back." I replied, hurrying out of the side door. I answered the phone.
"Hey." he said.
"Hi," I said. "What's up? I'm working."
"Well... I just thought I'd let you know the band has a gig soon."
"Oh?" I still hadn't even heard his hand perform. All I knew was that it was called 'The Strokes' and that they created rock music. "Where's this gig at? I may see if I can take a break to come see you-"
"There's no need." he laughed. "We're coming to your bar."
My eyes widened in shock. I had heard there would be a band performing at our bar, but since gigs happened a lot, I didn't even pay much attention to it.
"What? Here?" I asked, excited.
"Mhm."
He sounded excited himself on the other line. He had told me that the band wasn't able to get any gigs, so this was probably a huge deal for him. I hadn't even met the other members yet. All I knew was Nick and Julian.
"We have to get ready, but I'll see you when we get there. Okay?" he said, interrupting my thoughts.
"Alright." I said. "I'll be waiting."
I hung up, putting the phone back in my pocket and walking back into the bar and getting back to my job.
"What was that about?" Simone asked, still sitting at the same spot she was a second ago. She was nosy.
"Julian's band is coming to perform."
"Nick's in his band, isn't he?" she asked, a smile forming on her face.
I nodded, expecting her to have already known that.
...
About an hour later, I looked up to see Julian coming towards me along with four other guys, but they went the other way with their guitars and mic stand to the stage. It was almost time for them to perform.
He was wearing all denim. A denim jacket with a light gray tee underneath along with denim pants and his worn out converse.
"Well, hello there." Julian smiled as he approached me, putting his arm over my shoulders. He was definitely a little bit drunk.
