You knocked lightly on Loki's door, hoping he would at least open it.
"Who is it?"
You shifted your voice to sound like Steve's. "It's me. I found a book downstairs, I think it's yours." you fully shifted into an illusion of Steve.
The door opened with green magic, and Loki motioned for you to come in from his desk. His back was to you, and you hoped he wouldn't turn and notice your illusion immediately.
"Captain Rogers was wearing a blue tie." Loki stated, slowly turning to you. "So what in the Nine could you possibly want, Y/n?" he seethed.
You sighed and let the illusion melt away. "I want you to listen."
"Well, I don't have time for that. Leave." he pointed to the door.
"See, that's what I thought you'd say." you held back a smirk, waving your hand in a circle and smacking your palm on the floor.
"What in HEL'S GATES did you do that for!?!?" Loki shouted, leaping from his chair. He had definitely felt the spell. "Now neither of us can leave this room!"
"Yes, now pop a squat and listen to what I have to say." you sat on the floor cross legged.
"And what's to stop me from killing you to release the spell?" he stood over you with a sadistic expression.
"You want to hear what I have to say." you shrugged. "now sit down."
"This will be fun." Loki chuckled, sitting in the chair at his desk.
No lies...
"Look, I'm not very good at the whole feelings thing. Never have been. I push people away because I don't like the idea of trust. No one has ever shown romantic interest in me, and the one time someone did, he turned out to be a huge piece of shit. He betrayed me in every way possible, and I still haven't fully healed from that. On the Belova mission, I felt something...and that really scared me. Back in Cas' room, I was trying to find a way to deny what I had felt. I shouldn't have said that back there. I'm sorry. It was really shitty of me." you sighed. This was way too much vulnerability for you. Pouring your soul out was never something you liked doing. "Truth is, I'm scared that if I put myself out there again I'll end up just as hurt as last time...... I would say I want there to be something, but I think I know how you would respond." you sat in silence as Loki thought, most likely coming up with an insult.
"Don't get me wrong, I absolutely despise you, but I don't think my response would be what you think."
"What would it be?" your voice was barely a whisper.
"It wou-" a puff of green magic flashed in the dark room, and Loki was gone. In his place was a black cat with bright green eyes. It looked down at itself and jumped back in surprise.
"What the hell?" you looked around. Loki was nowhere to be found. "Okay, I get it. I spill my guts to you with a genuine apology and you repay it by tricking me. Thats fine." you stood up, ignoring the cat's loud yowling and walked to the door. You pressed your hand against it and took down the spell keeping the two of you from leaving. "Never again." you told yourself, feeling tears form. You felt all the same pain you had when you told your past love that you loved him. You thought you did, but it was all a game to get what he wanted. The betrayal, anger, sadness...all of it was the same.
"No, wait!" a cold hand grabbed your shoulder and turned you around. Loki looked down at you with pleading eyes. "Your spell, it was tampering with my sedir. I didn't mean to do that, I swear." bullshit.
"Do you really have to make everything a joke?" you shrugged his hand off. "For once I try to be a little nice, and what do I get? I never fully understood why I hated your guts before but now I do: you don't have any empathy. You think everyone around you is a fucking toy for your amusement. People have feelings, Loki." you turned and left, walking as quickly down the hall as you could, donning an illusion as you got closer to the elevator. You needed to get a drink from the party before you could even begin to think straight.
The pain was too much. He had set you up, made you feel guilty for denying your feelings, then made you pour out your soul to a fucking cat. You confessed to having feelings for Loki to a cat. He had made you look like a fool, and you would be damned if he ever had the chance to again.
"Hey! I always knew you were a party animal." Tony beamed. "Feathers took a minute to get settled, eh?" he shot you a wink.
"Ew, gross. If anyone in this tower was in a relationship with Cas, I would bet on it being Dean." you grabbed the whiskey glass Tony offered you and downed it, holding back a grimace as the liquid burnt you throat.
"Whoa, hold on, kid! You trying to forget something?" Tony chuckled.
"No." you felt that answer was a bit too quick.
"Hey, Y/n." Nat strolled up to you. "Care for a dance?"
.....
"No, I'm dead serious. Newton was under my tree, so I chucked an apple at his face!" you laughed drunkenly, downing a shot Thor had handed you. Midgardian alcohol didn't do anything except taste good, Asgardian mead got you buzzed.
Buzzed was an understatement. You were shitfaced.
For whatever reason, everyone seemed obsessed with your stories.
"B.S!"
"Nope! The apple tree was an offering from a cute little farmer. He didn't want my crazy ass causing chaos on his farm." you sighed. "I liked that tree."
....
The party had reduced to you, Nat, and a passed out Thor.
"So, Y/N..." Nat smirked. "Whats going on between you and Loki?"
Oh boy did you did you sing. Like a mother fluffing canary. You told Nat everything. Cat confession and all. You doubted you would remember her advice in the morning.
