twenty-something...
what a dumb age.no more high school
sweetheart 'highs'.where falling in love
was another way to
pass the time.dances and socials
that we did
or didn't attendall seem murky
this end.teenage issues
far away,can i swap them
with the turmoils
i face today?i saw your face
after what feels
like decades.clicked on your
picturethe same suit
you wore to
promis now business attire...
did you ever think
we would be
this disconnected
four years ago?polaroids of our faces
melt into the background.the seconds ticked by
and i realise
our adolescence
snuck up on us.no more study nights
or stupid fights,
no more innocent kisses,
the rush of adrenaline
when i held your hands.no more our secret place
to escape our fateof becoming
boring grown ups
with backache.now twenty-something
slipped inour dreams thinned.
i guess this is
the new reality
we live in.
