oh, my dear,
i wish i could
wrap you up
in bubble wrapand protect you
from all the harm
to come.but a plastic
safety net
cannot prevent
every heart ache,every sad bit
of human madnessthat knocks
on our doorsteps,
waiting to trip
us up.perhaps it is why
we were built
to cry,and scream,
and care.
human nature may not
be fairbut, my dear,
our human nature
could fill
sweetness in the air.i may not be able
to keep you
safe in bubblesfrom all the troubles,
but i can be here
and lend an ear
when all around
seems to leak despair.
