Genevieve
"Come on, Genie, hurry up!" My mom calls out from the hallway.
Genie...
Hearing that nickname, a small smile appears on my face, with a following sigh.

One Winter Afternoon
(December, 2008)"Shhh...," I motioned Jasper to shut up by placing my index finger on my lips.
It was a winter afternoon and we were watching the Aladdin cartoon movie in my house. Sitting cozily with blankets wrapped around us.
Through the whole movie, Jasper just kept blabbering and, eww-ed whenever there was some cozy scene between Aladdin and Jasmine. I remained silent, watching his cute nose-scrunching expressions like a creep, the whole time. The 'creep' opinion is given by my present self, because that seven year old girl didn't even know what 'being creep' was.
She only knew how to admire her best friend.
Anyways, let's not turn this into the sappy direction.
As the end of the movie came up, I spoke, "It's so disturbing watching movies with you... you just keep blabbing all the time. You are so irritating!"
Upon hearing my whines, he had opened his mouth to give me his usual sassed response but got interrupted by the voice of my mother calling me. He was quite sassy for a seven year old kid.
"Genevieve, honey, are you kids still down there?"
"Yes, mom," I replied to my mom who was then descending the stairs. Both of us turned around on the couch and rested ourselves leaning on the back of the couch to face her.
"Oh, I see your movie has come to end. I hope you guys enjoyed your movie time?" mom said with a smile, her eyes glancing to the TV screen then back to us.
"No, mom. I couldn't enjoy it, because this idiot kept blabbing the whole time," I complained, poking Jasper with my finger.
"Genevieve, dear, what did I tell you about calling names each other?" Mom says with a disapproving face.
I looked down feeling bad for the slip up, "You told it is a bad thing to do. I'm sorry. But, mom, you always scold me for bad things then why don't you scold Jasper, too?" I said the last part pouting my lips and looking at Jasper, who was giving me a glare, which told I was going to suffer later.
"Well, I would scold him too, if I think what he does is wrong," she said turning to Jasper, "Now, did you do anything wrong, Jasper, dear?"
Jasper shook his head quickly and I narrowed my eyes at him. "He did, mom! He blabbers the whole time when we watch movies and disturbs me a lot. He also tickles me when I complain. Isn't that a bad thing, mom?"
Mom let out a small chuckle, "Well, as cute as it sounds, I think we shouldn't do anything that disturbs other people, right, Jasper?"
