When they had been properly introduced, the guests were shown to the rooms they would be staying in for the duration of their visit, and Diana took the opportunity to flee to her room.
She took a couple of deep breaths once she was alone again. She felt guilty for leaving the kings and queens, and not getting to talk to Carissa properly, but she could not stand being in the same room as her family, and they were keeping Carissa from her on purpose, she was sure of that. Why had they even come here? Were they just trying to make her life miserable?

Diana hid in her room for the rest of the day and only Ava was allowed in her room. The Narnian emperors had knocked on her door but she hadn't let them in, she couldn't face them when she was like this. She had assured them that she was fine and just wanted to rest.

Diana had been trying to keep her emotions under control, but when she decided to go to sleep she could no longer contain her tears. She cried with her face buried in her pillow.

Suddenly she hard a knock on the door. She got up confused, wiping the tears from her cheeks and took a deep breath. She wondered who could be knocking on her door this late at night.

"Who is it?" She asked through the door, not wanting to open it in case it was her father or one of her siblings. "It's me, Ed, I just wanted to check up on you, since you skipped both lunch and dinner... and I could hear you crying from my room." He said with a hoarse voice that made Diana melt a little inside. "I'm sorry, was I keeping you up?" She still hadn't opened the door. "No, no, I couldn't sleep anyways." He said and she could hear him lean against the door.

They spoke like this for a while, and Diana realized that the negative emotions she had felt when seeing her family again, was slowly being replaced with positive ones, making her feel safe and warm, even though she was sitting on the floor in front of her door in her thin night gown.

"You should get some sleep." Edmund said when he had realized how late it was. She chuckled. "You too." "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow then, please do join us for breakfast, you need to eat something." Diana promised that she would come if he escorted her, and sat next to her.

The next morning Diana had a hard time waking up, but Ava pulled the blanket off and she could then feel the cold air through her night gown. She curled up and groaned. "Please just let me sleep." She pleaded with the leopard. Ava chuckled. "Did you stay up too late last night?" She teased. Ava had heard their entire conversation while pretending to be asleep.

"You did promise King Edmund that you would join them for breakfast." Diana quickly sat up remembering the conversation she had with him through the door. She quickly splashed some water in her face, and brushed her hair, while picking out a dress. She wanted to impress Edmund, and at the same time she also wanted to provoke her family, to show them that she could be beautiful, and that she had great friends now who were kind and loving.

She picked out her favorite dress. It was green which made her slightly red-golden hair stand out. It was open around her shoulders and the top of her sleeves were slightly puffed. And then from her elbow to her wrist it sat tightly around her skin. There was a golden belt just under her chest, and at the front the green part of the dress opened to reveal a creme colored skirt underneath. The dress draped a little at the back. she quickly but expertly threw her hair up into a beautiful updo and placed a hair ornament in it, that matched her necklace.

As soon as she was done she heard a knock on the door. "Coming!" She shouted and took one last look in the mirror before opening the door. Edmund stood outside with a wide grin on his face. When he saw her his jaw dropped and his eyes widened. He quickly shook his head and smiled again blushing, pretending nothing had happened.

He offered her his arm. "You look absolutely stunning this morning Princess. May I escort you to the dining hall for breakfast?" Diana blushed and giggled as she took his arm and let Edmund lead her to breakfast. When they were at the door they stood there for a moment and Diana took a deep breath before she nodded to Edmund who gave her a reassuring smile and squeezed her hand trying to comfort her. He then nodded to the guards at the door and they opened.

No matter how hard Diana tried she could not seem to relax in the presence of her family. She barely ate anything and quickly excused herself to go for a walk in the gardens. Edmund offered to join her but she needed some time alone. She had been walking for about 30 minutes before she ran into her father, who had been looking for her.

She looked down and stood still. "Hello father, what brings you out here to the gardens?" She asked because she knew that he would get angry if she ignored him. "Oh stop with that nonsense girl, we're alone, you don't need to act like you care." He scoffed at her. She flinched slightly. "But since you asked, I was actually looking for you." He said walking closer to her, making her tense up and take a step back. "Why have you not gotten married yet? You know that's the only reason you are here. Not to make friends but as a part of a deal we have made with the Narnians." He scolded her.

Diana flinched and nodded quickly. Her father then walked up to her and she was frozen in place, when he grabbed her chin harshly and made eye contact. "You know that servant girl you were so fond of, we brought her here for you." He smiled a malicious smile. "Sure would be a shame if something happened to her."

Diana had tears in her eyes but she blinked them away refusing to cry in front of her father. "And you know what? It would be entirely your fault. You could prevent it if you wanted to." He let her go and watched as she ran back to the castle.
