Hey. I'm Sabina. I am a sports fanatic. Literally every day of the week, I have practice for something. No, literally every day. I play softball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and sometimes even football. Yeah, long story. I convinced the football coach to let me on the team, since I'm so good and I love it. It's all boys, which is good, because I don't really like the girls this year. It's nice to stay away from them once in a while. Football gives me that break.
Anyway, I kind of like to play the piano. I know, sounds kind of stupid, but it helps me keep focus, which is good for an athlete. I'm not sure how I find the time to play it between homework and practice, but I somehow manage.
A couple of days ago, I bumped into this girl named Leia. Well, I sometimes sneak into the band room to play a couple chords on their piano. I mean, that things HUGE! It's like heaven to me. So, I was in there playing "Life of the Party" by Shawn Mendes, and I was all ready to go when I open the door and see a girl standing in the hallway with this perplexed look on her face, like she's hearing things.
"What?" she mutters to herself, now. walking down the hallway. "Those were perfect chords... But now they stopped... Ouch! Hey, watch it!"
Oops. I accidentally bumped into her when I opened the door.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" Her books were strewn all over the floor. "Do you need help," I say, bending down.
Leia looked utterly surprised and startled. "Sure," she said, recovering. After a little bit, and we were almost done putting all her papers back into place, she spoke up.
"Hey, um, don't you play a lot of sports?"
"Yeah," I say. "I'm Sabina. Leia, right?"
"Yep," says Leia.
Finally, we're done.
"Well, thanks for helping me." said Leia.
"No problem. Sorry about hitting you," I say, and I walk to the exit of the school, ready to go home.
But what I didn't know then was that that moment would spark an idea that would lead to something that almost every kid dreams of. Something amazing would happen, all because I played the piano, and Leia was listening just outside the door.
