I quickly turn around to see the voice's owner, and I see Leia smiling back at me. I start towards her and say, "Look, Leia, don't get any ideas or anything. Don't tell anyone, don't-"
"Claire! Do you really think I'd do that to you? Anyway, even if I did tell someone, you should be proud. Your voice is beautiful, you know. Now, imagine yourself standing on a stage, singing your own sing into a real mic, instead of muttering someone else's in the school hallway to yourself. Wouldn't that be awesome?"
"No. As a matter of fact, just the thought of that gives me the jitters." I say, trying to shake off my goosebumps. I can't believe she suggested that to me.
"Why, Claire? But you're so good at it!" Leia says.
"I don't like crowds," I mumble.
"Oh. Well, you'll get over it. I know you will. Nothing can stop anyone from doing what they love, even their fears." With that, Leia walks in to her first period class.
We'll see about that, I think, and I walk to my classroom. I'll never get over my fear.
But, little did I know, I was wrong. At some point, I would get over my fear. And something great would come of it, all because I sang, and Leia heard me.
