I have never met Cindie in 'real life', we connected through a Christian Facebook group a few years ago, initially introduced through mutual friends. Cindie was born in New York and grew up in California L.A. Cindie currently lives in rural Oregon USA. Cindie has a sister, Sherrie and a half brother. Cindie also has two adult children, Julia & John and four grandchildren.
It was a joy to listen to Cindie talk about her life, I told her that she is a gifted storyteller, that her voice has an anointing. We went from talking about pop tarts without frosting (apparently it is a thing in America and you can have them with butter but hey, we have beans on toast...don't knock it til you try it!) we also talked about plastic surgery, box dyes, her experiences of the supernatural and her love for cars and fashion.
I was on call to Cindie for nearly two hours but it only felt like ten minutes. As she shared some of the intimate details of her life I made notes when I could so that I wouldn't forget when it came to writing everything down.
As I pause from writing to take a break, I am reminded of bits of our conversation that I didn't get to jot down. I feel like God is saying to me, 'Don't forget to put this in.' as all the little details count. You just never know what it will be that will speak to someone.
Cindie was raised in the 'disco era' of the late sixties/early seventies so naturally Cindie has a love of dancing. A non exhaustive list of her other hobbies and interests are; Car racing and air shows, amusement parks, theatres, concerts, art museums and boogie boarding.
Cindie is a semi retired nursing assistant and previously served in the United States airforce as a medic but she has all kinds of different medical specialities. Cindie has an incredible gift for art. An incredible gift. One of her pieces that to this day takes my breath away is the painting she did of her granddaughter, Sparrow.
Cindie explained that her father has a love for nature and spends a great deal of his life in the outdoors.
Cindie shared this verse with me from the book of Psalms;
'The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.' Psalm 19:1
She told me that she found it odd that someone who loved nature so much could not see God's handprint in it. To her, she could clearly see God in nature, in the World around her, it was obvious. How can all this 'be' without a creator? It seems... impossible.
I can't help but have a heart for Cindie's father, despite never having met him. A lot of our stories have parallels, including when it comes to our fathers.
