After Kazuno brought Mikoto back into bed, they didn't pass anyone on the way. Mikoto was hungry as she didn't have any breakfast yet.
The door opened to reveal, not Kazuno, but Shoto with her meal.
"A-ah- T-Todoroki-" She awkwardly stuttered, feeling the pain coming back a smidge. (Why do I feel so guilty still?)
Trauma. Yup. Trauma does that. Awesome.
"There wasn't a lot to choose from." He tried to ignore the aching in his heart as he placed the tray gently on the bed for her. The meal consisted of some vegetables and rice.
When he looked into her eyes, Shoto's expression almost looked desperate. "Your sister said that you were upset when you were told that I didn't want to be around you. Is that true?"
Mikoto struggled to answer his question, due to the fact it was going to cause her to cry once more. Regardless of trying to suppress it, her eyes were slightly glossy. Quickly, she jerked her head away, but it caused her sore body more pain.
"Agh- The was dumb- um-" while she was stammering, her hands started to rub her eyes to wipe away any tears.A sense of doubt washed over him. "I won't bother you for long. I just want to know so that I don't upset you. I won't be mad if you don't want to see me."
"N-no! Todoroki! That's not it!" She exclaimed emotionally. "I thought you didn't want to see me.. because.. what happened to me."
She couldn't even say it. Her hands gripped against the bedsheets. "I thought you didn't want to see me because of that..."
"I wanted to see you," he said with a hint of sadness. "The only reason I didn't was because I thought I was upsetting you. I wouldn't want to not talk to you because of that."
"I'm actually surprised you're here. I thought you didn't come because of me. But that was a lie, I see now." She looked down as she sniffled a little bit. "What made you join us?"
"Toya and Takahashi forced me to," he replied. "It's nice to rest, but...I'm still not sure that I should be here. I don't want you to get hurt."
"I'm already hurt so.. nothing new." She forced a laugh. "You're safe here. Mom and dad won't let anything happened to you."
Then she started to get embarrassed because she hardly calls them that. "Ahh! I mean, Satoko and Toya!"
"You must be pretty close with them to call them that," he pointed out. "My brother - Toya - what is he like? I didn't get a chance to know him very well when I was younger. This has been my first time seeing him in years, so I don't know him as well as you do."
"Oh he's-" Mikoto halted her words as her eyes widened. "Wait. Wait. Waaaaaiittt. He's your brother?!"
Come to think of it, they do have the same nose frame.
"I thought you knew," he stated.
He went on to tell her his story. What awaited him at 'home' and what happened to Toya. It was difficult for him to talk about. When he did talk about it, his gaze was unfocused as if he was elsewhere.
He tried not to scream whenever he was tortured. He didn't want Endeavor to have any satisfaction. Well, he tried to when he got older. When he was younger, he couldn't help it. He was only a terrified child who was in pain.
The deal that they made kept Endeavor from hurting him for a while. That is, until Shoto got badly sick one day.
He was practically on death's doorstep. He could hardly breathe, let alone get up to train. He would have tried to push himself anyway if he could. He quickly learned after passing out that he couldn't train in that state.
