"So... you're going back to Japan." Raimi's foster father sprung on her on one Autumn night, as she was sitting in her bed and watching the newest episode of Euphoria.
"Huh?"
"You heard him. We've decided to allow to continue your schooling in Japan. We know you must miss your friends and might want to see them." Raimi's foster mother, a total bitch, agreed with a fake smile plastered on her face. Her name was Kiyoshi, which was funny because it meant "pure", which was exactly what she was not.
"You mean you want me to go back so that you don't have to see my ugly face and hair any longer?" Raimi retorted dryly, resulting in a death glare from her mother and a laugh from her father.
"Oh, don't encourage her. Anyways," Kiyoshi turned to Raimi and pursed her lips for a few seconds, then continued. "We've decided that it would be best to allow you to have a residence in Tokyo until Emika graduates. You can finish high school and college in Japan, and get married off there. Do what you like."
Raimi knew what that meant. Kiyoshi had adopted her because of her high school grades, then abandoned her as soon as she didn't need her. The only reason why both kept the other around was Emika, Kiyoshi's angel of a daughter. She was 2 years younger than Raimi, but had a promising future and an amazing personality that forced Raimi to stay at the hell of a house.
"Fine," Raimi snarled in reply. "But if I hear that you do anything to Emika, I'm coming right back to America to take her with me."
Kiyoshi raised her hand to slap her foster daughter, but was stopped by her husband, who shook his head. "Her flight's soon. We're going to be late."
Raimi didn't stick around for the reply, just stomped on her foster mother's foot and ran out, slamming the door closed.
The flight to Japan was amazing, as it consisted of her foster father, Atsuo, and Emika. The three of them ate all kinds of snacks on the way, chatting about Euphoria and other shows that the trio had gotten into. She supposed that this was a pretty nice way to say goodbye to her treasured family members while in America. Kiyoshi had made her life a living hell, but at least she could take care of Emika and know that her foster father could take care of Emika while she was gone. After saying a tearful goodbye to her little sister, Raimi put on a strong smile and waved goodbye to her family, entering her home country where a whirlwind of emotions awaited her.
Being at home is the best feeling ever, Raimi sighed happily as she dragged her feet across the bright sidewalk, taking in the scent of the coffee shop nearby, her cold breath forming a cloud in front of her. She waltzed around aimlessly, searching for food, or maybe old pal, she didn't know.
She stopped in front of a small bakery whose light's looked familiar, and when she looked inside...
"Izuku!" Raimi exclaimed loudly, and ignoring the strange looks received from the crowd around her, she dashed into the bakery to get a look at her friend.
"Uh, hello, what can I get you-" The young worker stopped, catching Raimi's eye, and gasped loudly.
"Raimi! What are you doing here!"
"Well, don't you sound excited," Raimi teased, grinning at her green-haired friend. The two had met through a mutual friend that Raimi had, named Reina, who went to school with Izuku and had career goals to be a police officer. Raimi was also able to encounter Katsuki, a hot-tempered teenager who seemed to have a exclusive relationship with Mizuki. At least that was her hunch.
"So how are you? How's Mizuki and Katsuki?" Raimi asked, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively, making Izuku laugh.
"You know what? I think they've been getting pretty close," Izuku replied with a big smile, picking up a notebook and pencil. "They work here on Thursdays and Mondays, together of course. If you want to see them, come tomorrow! What would you like to order?"
"Lets see, the usual," Raimi responded.
"Okay, tell me if this is correct," Izuku stared at his notebook, then back to Raimi with a strained smile. "One chocolate cream bread, two drizzled bags of chocolate laced popcorn, a vanilla and chocolate croissant, a big fruit cake with extra whipped cream and chocolate syrup, a half-dozen cupcakes with whipped cream, a dozen chocolate covered strawberries, and a wedding cake."
"That sounds right," Raimi confirmed with a nod, still grinning at her friend. "Wow, I can't believe how long it's been since I was last here. Is there still an available shift on Monday?"
"I think they're all full, but I'll see what I can do," Izuku replied, jotting down Raimi's order and exchanging papers with the workers in the back. "It'll take around 25 minutes, Miss Raimi."
"Ok, Mr. Midoriya," Raimi teased, and sat down to wait for her order.
The clock seemed to tick slower the more she awaited her order, but at last, her desserts had been completed. She received her order with a grateful smile, and headed out with an application form for the bakery for Monday and Thursday shifts.
"That's a nice part time job," She hummed softly as she walked along the sidewalk, her feet drifting absentmindedly to her old home.
After moving to America for a few years, Raimi was finally coming back to Japan to finish her high schooling and attend a college near her foster parents. It sucked that she would have to resume school in the middle of the year, especially considering how good of a time she had in America. The education system was totally behind there, so Raimi could breeze through the classes and quickly became the top student.
Despite how wonderful America had been, Raimi was excited to come back to Japan and reunite with her old friends. If they remembered her, that was. There was Tohru Honda, her best friend in junior high, Kyo and Yuki Sohma, a pair of rambunctious cousins that always made Raimi laugh, and Uotani, who was practically her sister.
Oh gosh, Raimi thought in surprise as she narrowly avoided a truck headed in her direction. Maybe I should get out of this traffic.
Raimi walked along the streets while holding her desserts, looking for a place to spend her new year's. Perhaps she would go to Uotani's place and check up on her. Or maybe see how Yuki was doing. She remembered that he was moving in with his cousin, Shigure, that resided in the countryside of Tokyo. The only problem was that Raimi had no idea where she was. She decided that she would close her eyes and try to turn in random directions to find the house, which seemed to work better than walking with her eyes open.
Eventually, she came to a gate, then steps, then a clearing with a large house and a pretty view. Her plan was to go in, say her hellos, check on Yuki, maybe give the two cousins some dessert, and go on her way.
Her conversation did not go according to plan, especially when she found Yuki and Kyo sitting and eating together with Tohru Honda.
(Not the MHA reference, lmao)
