He was chasing me. No matter how fast I ran, I couldn't get away from him. I could feel myself start to panic, the adrenaline running through my body, and the sweat that started to appear. I tried to scream, but the lack of oxygen in my lungs prevented me from doing anything but heave short bursts of air in and out of my body.
I looked back and saw him coming closer, making it seem as if I had been walking the entire time. There was nothing ahead of me, nothing I could hide behind or escape to.
I feel hands grab me, their fingernails digging into my skin until I saw blood staining my arms. I was jerked back, the sudden movement causing a muffled gasp to escape my mouth. His arms wrapped around me tightly, making my movement limited to only squirming.
I was turned around to see Anderson's face, the same one I saw in that classroom that day. The one that made a whole town despise me. The one who made my friends turn against me.
"Pleas let me go. Plea-" I'm cut off with his fist coming into contact with my cheek, a stinging sensation coming after it.
I close my eyes and wait for another, but it never comes. I try to move, but my feet are stuck to the ground.
I open my eyes to see Harry standing in front of me. He was staring, his head tilted sideways, and he seemed to not be blinking what so ever. I tried to call out to him, but I couldn't remember his name.
He looked familiar, but I didn't know who he was. He stepped closer to me, placing both hands on either side of my face. His touch was gentle, but having a stranger touch me was something I didn't want to be experiencing.
"Don't touch me. Please."
"Autumn, it's me, Harry. Your boyfriend."
I started to hyperventilate, not knowing what to believe. He wasn't real. I didn't know this person. He isn't real. I didn't know this person. HE ISN'T REAL. I DID NOT KNOW THIS PERSON.
"I DON'T KNOW YOU. I DON'T KNOW YOU. I DON'T KNOW YOU." I kept repeating over and over, his face changing from Anderson's multiple times until I couldn't distinguish who was who.
I jerked awake when I heard my phone ringing. I tried to breath, feeling my heart trying to make it's way out of my chest. I reached out a shaky hand and picked up my phone, not saying anything at first, just breathing into the receiver.
"I couldn't sleep, and I know you've been having nightmares, so I thought I would call you." Harry whispers through the phone, making me calm down a bit.
I was trying to forget my horrible dream, but it seemed to want to stay imprinted in my mind.
"Autumn, I love you."
These words seemed to slice through me, making me calm down enough to actually talk. Before I said anything, I laid back down, making sure the phone was at my ear the entire time.
"I miss you, Harry." I whisper, smiling a little.
"The real reason I called you was because I sleep better when I'm next to you. But you're not here, so your voice will have to do for now." He whispers, laughing nervously.
"You broke your promise."
"I was taking out my anger on you. I shouldn't have been."
"You should have listened."
"I'm not the best at being a good boyfriend."
"I don't care. As long as you keep your promise."
"I promise."
"Okay."
"I'll meet you in my dreams."
"And I'll be dreaming of you." I close my eyes and listen to him breath, finally feeling safe. I yawn and hear him laugh, making me smile.
My eyes start to close and I feel myself fall asleep, hoping that nightmares wouldn't haunt me anymore, and that I could finally sleep peacefully.
