The Bridge

I woke up to my phone ringing, the loud music filling my room. I reached for it numbly, groaning as I clicked the answer button.

"Well good morning to you too." I heard Harry's voice through the reciever.

I sigh and sit up, rubbing my eyes while holding the phone between my ear and my shoulder. I groan again, emphasizing that he had just woken me up. I heard him laugh at me, whispering through the phone to wake up.

"What must you possibly want this early in the morning Harry?" I laugh, throwing my sheets off of me and walking towards my closet, deciding what I would be wearing today.

"I was thinking that maybe you would like someone to drive you to school, rather then taking the bus all by yourself." I took a white blouse from a hanger, throwing it onto my bed before answering.

"Too bad there's no one I know who would offer to take me. What a shame." I hear Harry chuckle and telling me he would be at my house in twenty minutes. And I had to admit, it was nice to have someone to talk to. It was different considering I hadn't had anyone who wanted to actually have a conversation with me in a while.

I hung up and got dressed, quickly brushing my teeth and brushing my hair. I grabbed my stuff and headed down the stairs, grabbing a bowl. I poured in cereal, and then milk, eating quickly before going onto the front porch to say goodbye to my mom. I kissed her cheek just as Harry pulled up. He waved as I got in, kissing my cheek before reversing out of our drive way.

The cold leather against my skin caused me shiver. I didn't think it was going to be this cold, especially in July.

"Hey, are you cold?" I nodded and Harry turned the heating on, grabbing my hand in the process. I looked out my window, distracted by the scenery, when I heard Harry muttering to him self.

"Right side, right side, right side." I laughed quietly, asking Harry why he was saying that. He turned to me, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink. "I have to remember to stay on the right side of the road. Because it's the opposite where I'm from." I laughed at his statement and kissed the back of his hand. The rest if the ride was silent.

When we got to school, Harry parked the car and opened my door for me. We got our things and walked toward the entrance. He lightly placed his arm around my shoulder, bringing me closer to him. I turned to see people watching us, but only one person really caught my eye. A girl who could only bring bad memories now. Jamie Harris. And she didn't look like the happiest person in the world at this moment. I looked up at Harry, smiling when he kissed the top of my head.

Today was looking like a good day. Harry and I were going on a date, Mr. Anderson was sick and didn't show up, and I was having a good hair day. When the final bell rand, Harry and I practically ran out of the school. We threw our things in the back seat of his car and when I asked him where we were going, he still denied to tell me.

As we drove, Harry suddenly turned onto a dirt road. I held onto the seat tightly, making sure that I didn't fall out of the car considering the way Harry was driving.

"Where in the world are we going Harry?" I asked, smiling as he shook his head as response. He parked the car and we both got out, walking on a dirt trail into the unknown.

And that was when I saw the beautiful bridge over a river that was so blue, it resembled the sky on the clearest of days. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I grabbed Harry's hand, intertwining our fingers and tugging him towards it, wanting to take a closer look.

"Slow down." he said pulling me into his embrace, so that my only option was to place my arms around his neck. I laughed and told him to stop, and I guess he gave in, considering how excited I seemed.

As we walked closer, I started to notice the little details that I hadn't before. I realized the fish that swam up the river and into the unknown. I saw how the red brick had aged, making it faded from the water and the exposure to the sun. Plants stuck to the sides. You could see miles and miles of trees in the distance, all of them beautiful, all of them unique.

I smiled and turned to Harry once we were standing in the centre of the bridge. He looked away, almost like he was embarrassed, and pulled me close. His fingers played with the tips of my hair, causing me to giggle. I lean away from him, moving some curls from his face and kissing his cheek. I stepped back and jumped to sit on the ledge. Harry came closer, standing between my knees and holding onto my thighs so I wouldn't fall over. Apparently it was deeper than it looked.

"How in the world did you find this place?" I asked, looking around and admiring everything. I shiver, just realizing how cold it was out here. Harry noticed and took off his green hoodie, placing it on my shoulders before answering.

"Well, I don't live too far from here. When I first got here I didn't have anything else to do, so I just walked around. After getting lost I tried to retrace my steps, which of course didn't help at all, when I stumbled across this little bridge. Literally, because my legs were tired." I shook my head and laughed at his story.

Harry laughed along with me, and after we both settled down, he offered ice cream. Which I happily excepted because who doesn't like ice cream in July? Besides people who were lactose intolerant. But that was besides the point.

I watched as Harry walked away, holding onto the ledge. I was so lost in thought that I hadn't realized people were approaching. Well, not people exactly. They were more like wolves, all in a pack, coming out of the forest and everything. Tonight must be a full moon because there was no way they would approach me on a regular day.

I held my breath as they walked towards me, only releasing the built up air when they stop in front of me. I was face to face with Jamie Harris, a girl I had been confronted by before. I was lucky she left me alone this long.

"It's a shame Harry decided to take you here. There is an upside though. You can focus on the scenery more, considering your appearance." She smiled at me, almost like she was complimenting me. Which she wasn't. But nothing could ruin today. Not even this. So I held my head up high and watched for Harry.

Before I knew it, though, she had become to get closer and closer. Her and her friends almost surrounded me, blocking me from getting off of the ledge. I held on to the bridge as best as I could, hoping that I wouldn't fall off. I tried to look over them, frantically searching for Harry, but I couldn't see him, and I was starting to panic. I told them to stop, to back away, but they wouldn't leave. And soon they were all throwing insults at me, one after another.

That's when they started to grab me. My clothes were pulled in different directions, and I lost my grip on the bridge. And with a perfect, manicured hand, Jamie shoved me back. I yelled, reaching for something, anything to grab. My fingers got cut as I tried to grip the brick. And just before I fell back, I caught a glimpse of Harry, who was practically running towards us.

I gasped as my back hit the cold water. It felt like I kept falling. I couldn't find the ground, I felt like I was just floating in water. I held my breath, but I wouldn't be able to any longer. But what I was really focused on was how cold the water really was. It was like a thousand needles were in my skin. As I started to see black spots, I closed my eyes and gave up. I guess this was the second time Jamie had won.
