((Y/n) POV) (Sorry for any mistypes)
The bright sun peeked through curtains on her balcony as morning began. She shifted in bed, trying to escape her life for a few more minutes. But the sun wouldn't have it, so she sighed and sat up. Blue hair cascaded around her, seeming to sparkle in the light. She sighed as she looked at it. Not for the sake of the color, she loved it actually. But for the sake that she'd have to go dye it again.Stretching, she stepped onto the cool, grey marble floor. In the next room, she pulled a towel around her shoulders as she began to drag dye through her hair. It went from the sparkly blue to a basic (h/c). After double checking, she tied it up in a bun.
Maybe Father will let me go out to the garden today. She wondered to herself as she pulled out her favorite outfit. Instead of sitting in that stuffy throne room, just sitting there. She thought bitterly as she slipped it over her head and tied it. Snatching one last glance in the mirror, she headed off.
The throne room was the same as before. It smelled slightly of smoke. He sat there on his throne. He scratched at his short beard as she curtsied.
"Oh, (Y/n)." He commented. His black suit was slightly messed up as he lounged on the pinnacle of his royalty.
"Father." Before he could speak up, she spoke swiftly. "Could I maybe skip out today and go to the garden?" He slammed his fist down on the arm of his throne.
"For the last time, no! You should be here!" He pointed to the smaller seat next to him. "Perfect looking and the ultimate heir." Her heart froze over with his words. Is that all I am to him? An heir? "Sit." She listened, but inwardly, she hated it. But she smiled as the first visitor came in and bowed.
"I have a message for you, King Schlatt." His voice was lighthearted, somehow. "The king of the Artisa kingdom is throwing a ball. Your daughter has been invited to attend in a days time." Her heart raced. Why me and not him as well? She wondered. There hasn't been a ball since the civil war in the Sidra kingdom, out of respect.
"Very well." He glanced over at her. "Go back your things. You're leaving in the morning." She would have jumped for joy if he wasn't watching.
"Yes, sir." She nodded in respect as the messenger left and so did she.
Her mind was racing as her favorite maid and best friend, Niki, helped her pack her things.
"You won't need much since it's only for a night or two." She commented as she went through the wardrobe.
"Probably not." She paused. "I haven't seen the Minecrafts in awhile. We met only briefly when I was five. It was during a celebration for my mother on her birthday." A tear slipped down her cheek. "After that...." Niki sighed in agreement. There wasn't anything else to say.
"Maybe you could make some friends while your there." She suggested, smiling.
"Want me to dump you?" She joked as Niki faked a hurt look. The two broke out laughing as the door was opened suddenly. They both started from the noise.
"Oh, and (Y/n)." It was Schlatt. "I want you back home as soon as it's over." She opened her mouth, ready to snap finally. "And don't argue!" The shout echoed. "You belong to me and that is that! No messing around. Understand?" He left without confirmation. A tear slipped down her cheek, followed by a few more.
"Why is he like this?" She sobbed as Niki hugged her.
"I don't know." She sighed.
"And now my hair is ruined." Her tears had gotten on a few strands, making streaks of blue appear. Silence settled between the two as they finished their task.
"See you tomorrow, (Y/n)...." Niki waved a little before heading off. The princess just crashed onto her bed. She still needed to wash the dye out of her hair. What would tomorrow look like?
~(Time skip next day)~
She wasn't bitter when her father hadn't seen her off. In fact, she felt better he didn't. Alone in the coach, she had time to think. Lots of time. Her mind wandered over every topic there was as she stared out at the everchanging landscape.
Hours passed this way, her mood changing as much as the winds. Eventually they arrived at the castle. She peeked out the window for a better look and she gasped. There was beautiful color everywhere instead of the drab grayness of her home. People in the city were laughing and carefree. The sun seemed to shine a little brighter here somehow. Her own smile widened as the carriage made its way up the street. They were let through the palace gates with a smile from the guards. One graciously offered her a hand to step down with.
This is place is incredible. Happiness and peace seemed to be breathed here. A servant took her suitcase and politely escorted her into the castle. She was in awe at all the beautiful walls. Even the stairs had rich red carpet.
"This is where you'll be staying until tomorrow." The servant said. He smiled as she gasped at the decor. "I'll come get you for the ball in an hour."
"Thank you." She squeezed the black haired male's hand before he left. She sighed with contentment as the door shut. This place was almost like a fairytale.
It took her a whole hour to get ready for the ball. She had to make sure her hair was dyed and done correctly. Then her gown took a bit of primping after being stuffed away. (Here's what it looks like.)
Finally, there was a tap at the door. The servant from before smiled from the doorway as she opened it.
"Ready to go?" She nodded as she looped her arm in his.
They came to the grand doors and he knocked. Not a second later they opened, revealing a brightly lit and amazing looking ballroom. Many people turned their heads as she walked in. The king, standing at the other end of the room, smiled as he saw her. She made a deep curtsy to him before walking down the steps to the people.
She was already roped into many conversations by people trying to grab her attention. She was able to escape though. Especially since this was it. Her one night of freedom.
A/n: Hello! I hope you enjoyed! Remember to drink lots of water and get some rest. Have a lovely day/night!
