"Hey, guys. Everyone okay?" Cassy asked, walking into the loft. The heatwave had driven her to wear shorts and a tank top, her hair was in a bun to keep the heat off her neck, and yet she was still dying a bit. Cece, Schmidt, and Winston were collapsed on the couch, and Nick was standing next to a suspiciously large collection of fans and wearing... white jeans? "No one having any aneurysms?"

"Welcome to the ranch!" Nick said, spinning around and opening his arms to welcome her. She raised an eyebrow. "Have a seat! It'll cool you right off. You'll love it." Cassy looked at him suspiciously but sat down in the office chair. She stood right back up.

"Is that supposed to be wet?" She asked, frowning.

"Yes. Sit down." Nick replied. Cassy sighed, sitting back down. "Okay. And away we cool!" Cassy sat there, trying to feel the wind, but it wasn't working.

"Nick, I know you tried, but it feels like someone is learning to whistle very close to my face. Also, you're going to cause a power outage if you do that." She said, reaching over and turning off the fans. He frowned. "I like the ice, though." She moved, sitting on the end of the couch with her feet in the kiddie pool of ice. "Why don't I just go buy an air conditioner?" She asked.

"Yes!" Schmidt called.

"Please, Cassy!" Cece begged.

"Because! Have you seen the news?" Nick asked, jerking his thumb at the TV, where a news camera was filming two people biting each other over an oscillating fan. "Plus, we have the ranch! Who needs an air conditioner?"

"We do! We do, Nick!" Winston replied.

"Okay. I'm going to go get one for my place. You can stay here in "the ranch" if you want, or you guys can all come over." Cassy decided, turning toward the door.

"Cassy! Cassy, no!" Nick yelled, falling to his knees inside the kiddie pool of ice. She shut the door behind her. He paused. "Yeah, I'm gonna go help."

Cassy stood by the elevator, her arms crossed and smirking in victory. Nick frowned as he saw her, turning back toward the loft.

"Nick, come on! Just come with me." Cassy urged. He frowned at her again, and she stuck out her bottom lip, fake pouting. "Pleeeeease?"

"That is weirdly sexual- FINE!" Nick cried, throwing his hands in the air.

They got into Cassy's car, groaning in relief at the few minutes of half-functioning air conditioning, and drove to the store. Cassy and Nick were both screaming at people in the parking lot, and someone even tried to take out her headlight with a golf club. At that point, Cassy got out of the car and started threatening the man back, and he backed off. In the store was no better. People were pushing to get to the checkout, in and out of the store, into random aisles and sections.

"This is what the day I was born felt like. Stressful." Nick murmured.

"You were stressed during your own birth?" Cassy asked, raising an eyebrow.

"What can I say? I'm an empath." He replied. They got shoved around a few more times before Cassy had it. She turned to Nick.

"I would like to apologize for the person I am about to become." She said quietly.

"What do you mean?" Nick asked, making a shocked and concerned face. Cassy just sighed, but she walked over to the glass case with a fire extinguisher inside, and broke it open with her elbow. She grabbed the fire extinguisher, and like a warrior preparing for battle, squared her shoulders and faced down the enemy. Nick's eyes widened. "What is happening right now?"

"AAAAAHHHH!!!" Cassy yelled, using the fire extinguisher, spraying the compressed CO2 at anyone in their way. They jumped back like feral animals, and Nick tried to keep up as Cassy fought her way to the air conditioners. "Get back! I swear! Don't test me!" She yelled, forcing them away.
