With the beginning of the school year only days away the shop had been turned into utter chaos with back to school shopping.
Hogwarts students crammed in every available space, and items flying from the shelves like they were bewitched. Lyra helped where she could but often had to steal away out back. Twice two younger kids wandered down the hall past the offices to her workshop scaring the life out of her. Until Fred had kicked them out with a Ban until the end of the week. With all of this George supposed it shouldn't of suprised him when he couldn't find her within the chaos, but all the same it unsettled him a bit when he couldn't. He'd checked their flat, her room, her favorite reading spot when business was slow. She'd usually of told him if she had to go out...
"Fred?" George said getting his brothers attention as he helped a young boy asking questions about the snack boxes.
"What's up George?"
"Have you seen Lyra?"
Fred looked at him exasperatedly. "See as she's not the love of my life no. I don't tend to keep tabs on her."
George could feel his cheeks heat a bit and he rolled his eyes. "Thanks." He spat turning and heading for the back of the store again.
"Lyra?" He called making his way to her room once more.
"In here." A faint voice came from behind him and he whirled around to the empty hallway.
"In where?"
"Your office." Came the voice and he had realized a very faint light was coming from his barely cracked office door.
He walked back down the hall and opened his door all the way. Instead of finding Lyra sitting in his chair he found a candle sitting on the floor next to it. He walked over rolling his chair away and kneeling done peering under his desk. "What on earth are you doing?" He asked a wave of relief and also amusement washing over him.
Lyra peered over the edge of her book up at him. "Hiding."
"I gathered that when I couldn't find you." He chuckled leaning back and sitting on the floor with her. "Why on earth are you hiding under my desk.
She smiles tiredly "I figured Fred wouldn't look here and I couldn't take getting pulled back out into the chaos just yet." She admitted a bit guilty.
George reached out cupping her cheek. "You go at your own pace. Fred and I understand that it's a lot right now. The shop being as crazy as it is."
She nuzzled into his hand. "I love you."
George's emotions shifted at the way she said it without thinking and he fought the urge to scoop her up and kiss her to death.
"Well I suppose that's only natural, I am pretty great."
Lyra rolled her eyes and shoved his hand away, but her tired smile remained. "Forget I said anything."
"To late. You've already admitted to it. No going back now."
"So was there a reason you were looking for me?" She asked closing her book and tossing it to the side.
"Oh yeah! Well I hope so anyway. Might of wandered off since it took me so long to find you."
"Who?"
George stood and held his hand out to her. "Guess you'll have to come and find out."
The rooms air shifted again. He could feel her excitement and joy and she rolled out from under his desk and brushed herself off before taking his hand in hers.
"That excited for the surprise?" He teased squeezing her hand.
Lyra's face imeditely went red. "Shut up Weasley."
