mindy's cursor hovered over the call button. she was staring at her and wilbur's messages, her stomach in her throat.
wilbursoottoday at 3:33 p.m. hey, i hope it's okay i got your discord from tubbo! do you have a moment to join a call with me? tommy's birthday is coming up and i'm planning something :]
lupinslovertoday at 3:37 p.m. yeah, of course, i'm free now!
mindy jumped at the notification of his incoming call, but clicked accept.
"hi lupins, it's nice to meet you!" his rich british accent filled her headphones, and mindy blushed. man is 23, chill, she reminded herself.
"hi wilbur! it's great to meet you too! what's up?" she beamed.
"I'm sure you know tommy is turning 17 soon, and I'm planning a bit of a surprise party for him. he's already planned on coming out to Brighton, so I've already got a place for everyone to stay. I want to surprise him with all his online friends, in short. which leads me to my question: would you be able to fly out the weekend of his birthday? I've already messaged adrianna to invite her as well, she just hasn't responded yet. if you need me to speak with your parents, or if they want to come with that is completely fine."
mindy's heart sunk to her bum. meeting tommy in person?
"I know you haven't done a face reveal yet, so if you're uncomfortable, I completely understand."
"you think he'd want me there?" mindy didn't think before she spoke. she immediately groaned, regretting her words.
"definitely. I know the thought of someone so far away meaning so much is kind of surreal, but I can tell he cares for you. tubbo as well. they both mean a lot to me, and I want to do something special for them. it's kind of a surprise for tubbo too, because I know he'd get excited and tell tommy."
mindy laughed at that, "he would." she paused for a moment. "how would tommy know it's me?"
wilbur chuckled, "I have a dumb plan, but I think it would work." he explained myself, and mindy laughed out loud at some of the steps, but the more he talked, the more he made sense.
"I think my mom would want to come with, but if I have a good conversation with my parents and you're willing to talk to them, I think I could go. it's a maybe for now, while I talk stuff out with them. they know that I do twitch and they're really supportive, so this could work out," mindy nodded. wilbur whooped in response.
"incredible! I've rented out this huge place on brighton beach. it's fucking hilarious, each room is different themed. there's a paris room, a disco room, a buddha room, even a hollywood room. the minors will stay on the second level and the adults will stay on the ground floor," he explained. "also, I can send you ranboo or dream's discord if you want to talk to them about a face reveal. they'd just be more helpful with advice. like, if you want to wear a mask and sunglasses and a hat or something because you feel uncomfortable showing your face, no one's gonna blame you for that."
"thank you, I would really appreciate that if you could. and thank you for being so understanding," mindy smiled. she meant her words. she didn't know what she was going to do about meeting tommy. she kind of just wanted to show him the real her. he was the first person to know her name, to even ask for it, she felt he almost deserved to be the first to see her face.
"of course. I'll add you to the discord server of everyone who knows about it and is coming. except tubbo, but you know why. he knows as much as tommy," wilbur chuckled. "let me know if you need anything or have any questions, okay?"
"thank you, I will," mindy nodded.
"it was really great meeting you, keep me updated on what your parents want to do, and I'm sorry I have to go so soon, I'm scheduled to stream."
"you're good! it was great meeting you too, thank you so much for thinking of me. have a good stream!"
"thank you, have a good night," wilbur replied warmly. he ended the call, and mindy finally let out the breath she was holding. she relaxed back into her chair with a sigh, watching the discord server link pop up, and then a phone number. she assumed it was his number, in case her parents need it. mindy was thankful tommy has someone so thoughtful to look up to.
mindy has only known tommy and tubbo since december, and the first week of may was already nearing an end. she knew he'd be happy to see her, but for the same reason she's excited to see him? she wasn't sure.
she was nearing 200k, a huge jump from the beginning of the year. she started 2021 with 78.9k, and broke 100,000 the second week of january. since then, her following has been steadily rising. mindy could tell her fans loved for her content and personality, and the more comfortable she got with being herself because of that changed the game for her. she's sitting on 163.5k twitch followers, but she needed 200k by april 9th. maybe tommy wouldn't be the only person to see her face.
mindy accepted the invite to wilbur's server, immediately checking the member list.

that's 13, plus tommy, tubbo, adrianna and myself, she thought, so 17 people in total. she opened a different tab in chrome, searching up flights from vermont to england.
mindy grew up in illinois until she was 10, and then her parents decided to move back to her father's hometown of woodstock, vermont. this would be her first time leaving the country, or even being out of the state in 6 years.
a flight vermont to london could be anywhere between 10 hours and 16 hours. mindy was drained just looking at the times.
at least she could distract herself with flight times til her parents came home.
