AM I THE ASSHOLE? READING REDDIT
WITH FRIENDS!"helloooooo! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day so far! if not, let me cheer you up!" mindy greeted the stream after getting rid of her 'starting soon' screen. "today i'll be reading posts from the subreddit, am i the asshole?, and my friends and I will decide if they are one or not." she shared her reddit screen, showing the pre-chosen post.
mindy's mouse crossed her first monitor and to her 2nd, opening discord and typing into the chat for her friends to speak.
"HELLO HELLO!" tommy boasted.
"hi everybody!" adrianna smiled.
"hello chat!" tubbo chimed.
"welcome! thank you for joining me! let's get right into it," mindy grinned.
"i'm ready to judge the fuck out of strangers," adrianna chuckled.
"good. this first post's title is, AITA for ditching my wife at the mall because she was taking too long?"
"probably," tubbo immediately responded.
"this isn't looking good already," tommy added.
"they said, 'I'm a 34-year-old man, and my wife is 29. we have been married for five years. since we started dating, she has always taken her sweet time doing everything. getting dressed, doing her makeup, eating, whatever it is, she takes forever—"
"what's the problem with that?" adrianna asked defensively.
mindy laughed and continued reading, "I'm generally a patient person, but I get extremely anxious when I'm late for something with a scheduled starting time. alone, I have never been late for anything. with her in tow, I'm late for everything. the most frustrating thing about this is that she seemingly has no ability to comprehend that she's making people wait. If I even suggest that she move a little faster, she gets really defensive—"
"the way you say something or suggest critic on someone affects the way people react, like sit down and have a serious conversation if it affects you that much. don't just 'suggest' that she move a little faster cause she's gonna think you're being an ass,"
"what adrianna said," tubbo agreed.
mindy continued, "a few years ago one of her best friends dumped her because she was tired of her chronic lateness—" she cut herself off, "yeesh. that sucks," but continued. "last night, we went out to see a movie. getting to the mall before the movie started was a battle itself, but miraculously with the prospect of doing some shopping before it, she was able to gather her necessary belongings and get there with time to spare. she started shopping while I more or less followed her, until it was about time to get to the theater. when I told her this, she was talking to a sales clerk about the clothes that she wanted to buy, and she told me to "hang on" for a second. as usual, "hang on" meant "I have absolutely no concern about your needs because I'm doing my own thing right now and anything other than what I want to do is out of the question." I waited around for a couple more minutes until she started taking jeans off the shelves to try on new combinations. the previews had already started. I told her again, and she said we can just skip the previews. at this point I just walked away, which she naturally didn't notice, turned off my phone, and enjoyed the movie myself,—"
"idiot move," tommy shook his head.
mindy continued reading, "as a side note, I missed the first few minutes of it waiting for her, standing in line, and making my way to the theater. on my way out of the theater I saw her on a bench in the lobby beside herself because I ditched her. I honestly didn't feel bad at all and told her that I'd do it again."
"he's an asshole!" adrianna practically shouted.
"like that's just mean, he could've given her her ticket stub at least," mindy frowned, but continued. "this made her more upset, and finally we had an awkward quiet drive home. apparently she was actually looking forward to the movie too. was I the asshole in this situation? I felt it was supposed to be tough love, but she seems really hurt."
"i feel like this one's obvious," tubbo shrugged. "the guy is the asshole."
"give us a harder one," tommy whined.
for the rest of the stream mindy continued to read through a couple more posts. the group reacted to one titled, "AITA for asking a student to not use 'anime voice' in my classroom?" where they deemed the poster not the asshole.
mindy noticed her sub count going up as well as her follow count, and was she beaming with joy as she ended the live.
"if my audience was less PG-13 i'd totally copy this stream idea," tubbo said as mindy ended it.
"yeah, i don't know where you come up with some of this shit sometimes, lupins," adrianna laughed. the use of her screen name made mindy's skin tingle.
"you guys can call me by my name... if you want to," mindy spoke in a quiet voice. "instead of lupins."
adri audibly squealed, "if you really don't mind!"
"introduce yourself!" tubbo yelled.
"my name is mindy," she smiled.
"i knew that by the way. i was the first one she told!" tommy bragged.
"shut up!"
