Gaara found himself smiling as he looked at the woman in front of him. Her pretty pink lips were moving as she explained the graphs on the projector, and every time that she moved around the length of the room, her long white hair swayed with her in an entrancing dance. His smile widened as those crystal blue eyes met his eyes briefly.
Tsukiko gave him a furtive smile, having noticed the way that he was looking at her. But as the other four Kages began their questioning, Tsukiko returned to them as if she hadn't been distracted at all. Gaara's own smile widened to himself as he looked down at the papers.
It was a cold, mid-November morning, and the five Kages had arrived in the Land of Iron at the Alliance building, and Tsukiko was currently presenting on behalf of Land of Spring.
Almost about a month and so since they had last met each other, Tsukiko had been situated in the Land of Silence, and because of that, Gaara had not gotten to hear very much of her voice or got the chance to see her on her missions to Sunagakure. He had missed her immensely.
Upon days as such, Gaara found himself yearning to see more and more of Tsukiko. He felt like he could not get bored of her, even if he was simply staring at her. Although it was certainly true that Gaara enjoyed listening to her speak, her voice was soft and kind.
However, it was not long before Gaara would be marrying Tsukiko, and he felt like even though it was barely a few months away, it still felt like a long time to him.
"The floor is open for questioning," Tsukiko spoke up, and Gaara was brought out of his trance.
All of the Kages seemed satisfied with what Tsukiko had to say, and Gaara was among them. She had a really clear way of explaining. Others, however, were eager to question.
Some of them were completely devoted to the topic, others were keener on wanting to have that 'one-on-one' conversation with Tsukiko, and then there were some who wanted to challenge and see just how much Tsukiko really accounted for.
Of course, Gaara knew of such people. He had not been aware of this emotion before but he was always quick to notice when someone was trying to flirt with Tsukiko.
It was not a lie that Tsukiko was a very famous person, and even more well-liked than even the Kages. Some of these people were genuinely into her, while others seemed to want to annoy him or her with this behaviour. Gaara was not bothered by it too much.
No matter what the world believed, and no matter how famous Tsukiko was, there was no one on this earth that understood the secret that the love between her and Gaara was.
Gaara looked across from him as he and Tsukiko sat together in the sweet shop in the Land of Iron. It was an open place that allowed them to see the fluttering white snowflakes as the two of them got to enjoy the warm tea, sweet confections and each other's company.
"I missed you so much while I was away," Tsukiko complained with her cute pout. Gaara smiled at her. "We're going to come home in a few days – did you miss me?"
"I'm always missing you," Gaara replied. "But I missed you even more than usual," He looked at her with curiosity. "How have things been with you?"
As Tsukiko began to tell him all about the sorts of things she had to deal with, Gaara found himself watching her in attentive silence, content with just hearing her speak.
Ever since the news had spread the continent, everyone had something to say about Tsukiko and Gaara getting married. For him in Sunagakure, most people claimed that it was Gaara who was the amazing one to have scored a wife like Tsukiko, a Hero of the world.
