Tsukiko had never felt as wonderful as she had done when she learned of the happiness that had manifested in Gaara on the news that they were going to become parents. She had been over the moon at seeing that smile on her husband's face, and when he showered her with love even more than usual, there was nothing that she could complain about.
It was late at night when the pair of them returned to their home, and Tsukiko found herself wrapped up in Gaara's arms as he insisted that the two of them lay together. This was one of those things that he loved to do the most – to simply exist in the same moment with each other after their long, busy day away from each other.
Before the news of Tsukiko's pregnancy was to be shared with the wider world, it was important for the couple to share this news with the members of their family and their friends first. And the very first person to hear about it was Tsunade, along with Kakashi and Shizune.
During her break from her shift, using the new visual communication method through computers, Tsukiko reached out to Kakashi's office, hoping to talk to him and Tsunade at the same time.
Shizune had gone to fetch Tsunade while Tsukiko talked to her former Sensei, mostly conversing about how things were going in regards to her sister-in-law's upcoming wedding with Shikamaru.
"Well, I'm glad you've been doing well," Kakashi said, leaning back in his seat. "But it must be hectic with all the weddings coming and going, especially with all of them being your friends,"
"Have you thought about getting married, Kakashi Sensei?" Tsukiko asked, eying him through the computer remarkably. "Your strange actions concern me – you can't be left alone, Usa,"
Kakashi only laughed in response, although he seemed a bit thunderstruck by her assertion. Fortunately for him, however, Tsunade and Shizune arrived just in time for the subject to change.
"What's going on," Tsunade said as she appeared in the computer. "Is something the matter, Tsukiko? You're usually not so insistent on gathering us for calls,"
"To be fair, I have never had such a situation before," Tsukiko admitted, now starting to feel nervous about informing them about her pregnancy. "I wouldn't have woken you up so early otherwise,"
"What is it, Tsukiko-Chan?" asked Shizune, soundly quite concerned. "Is something the matter?"
"Actually," Tsukiko said, and she gathered all the courage that she had. She let breathed out gently and looked at them. "I am pregnant with Gaara's children,"
There were several reactions – Shizune had gasped as she covered her mouth, Kakashi's eyes had widened as he registered what she had said but Tsunade was calm and cool about it.
"I had a feeling it would be something as such," Tsunade spoke. "Congratulations, Tsukiko and to your husband, Gaara. Where is he right now?"
"Thank you," Tsukiko replied, smiling lightly. "He is busy with a meeting right now but he wants to have a conversation with you and Kakashi Sensei later in the evening. I'll be there as well,"
"We eagerly await it," Kakashi said quickly. "Congratulations, Tsukiko,"
"Thank you, Sensei," Tsukiko responded. "We haven't discussed this news with anyone and actually, we hope that we all discuss it before it is announced,"
"It's wonderful news, Tsukiko-Chan," Shizune said eagerly. "But... children? Are you...?"
"Usa," Tsukiko spoke softly, her smile slowly spreading as her hand went toward her stomach. "Gaara and I are going to have twins, it appears,"
All throughout her lunch break, Tsukiko got to talk to them in detail about how she found out and that she had only told Gaara thus far. She also admitted that she wasn't sure how to announce to the world about it and how they would react about it. Tsunade didn't like her worried, it appeared.
