Chapter 10 – The truth comes out
The three of us sat in a complete silence for a while, each of us lost in our own thoughts. Niall had a blank expression on his face and was facing around in front of us, while Liam sat down on the couch with his head in his hands. The tense atmosphere in the air could be cut with a knife, and I didn’t like it, not even one bit.
I sighed and rubbed my temples, already feeling a headache growing. With my healing powers I would have thought I couldn’t get headaches anymore, but it seems like that’s not the case.
I took the glass from the coffee table and took a sip water, the coldness in my throat calming me down slightly.
The silence was interrupted by the door slamming open against the wall. I jumped in shock, so engulfed in my thoughts that I didn’t even heard or felt the person coming. From the sound his footsteps made and the familiar smell that engulfed my nostrils, I knew it was Harry.
Niall’s icy blue eyes were already on the door to the living room we were seated and I knew the Irish lad did heard Harry coming.
“Guys?” Harry’s shaky voice spoke out. I could tell he was nervous and slightly afraid. Not only because of his fast beating heart, but also because I could hear it in his voice.
He’s afraid of me. Harry, my best friend, basically my younger brother, is afraid of me.
I gulped with a heavy heart and said, “Living room,” Harry fell silent and I could hear him nervously gulp before he slowly shuffled towards the door that separated us.
My eyes locked with Niall’s and he gave me a small smile, silently telling me it will be alright in the end. I smiled back, grateful to have his support.
Our attention went back to the door when it opened and Harry’s curly head poked out. His green eyes immediately fell on me and I could see him tense up, frozen on his place in fright.
I gulped and tried to send him a smile, even though it probably looked more like a grimace.
Liam looked from me to Harry before he stood up with a sigh and calmly walked up to the seemingly paralyzed lad. He whispered a few things to Harry and for once, I decided not to listen in on their conversation. I looked down and started fiddling with my thumbs, biting my lip in the progress. I could feel someone sitting next to me and I looked up to face Niall.
“Don’t worry, it will be alright. Just be truthful and tell him everything when Zayn arrives,” he advised me and I nodded in reply. He gave me a sad smile before gently squeezing my shoulder.
Harry and Liam walked around us and Liam sat down on my other side while Harry sat down on a chair. My heart fell even more when I realized he choice to sit there because it’s the furthest away from me.
“Harry… please… don’t be afraid, I’ll never hurt you,” I softly told him. Afraid that if I spoke too loud, he would run away and never come back.
