Skywalker's P.O.V.
I spent my entire shift at home before picking up the kids either sobbing or being pissed. This morning, I woke up still pissed, and my anger doubles the moment I step off the elevator on the third floor. I'm only her for the paycheck until I can find another job.
"Good morning, Sky," Mr. Hill timidly greets from the doorway of his office as I arrive at my cubical.
"Mr. Hill," I coldly answer as I look at him. "Please call me Skywalker from now on."
Mr. Hill's smile instantly drops as he solemnly nods; "Of course, my apologies."
Nodding, I set my bag under my desk before grabbing the iPad and files for this morning from the desk and filing cabinet. Turning around to head toward the conference room, I find Mr. Hill still in place, looking like he is going to say something, but I don't let him.
"Don't say whatever you're going to say. I am going to remain here until I can find a new job."
"I understand, and I am truly sorry that this situation has happened," he say answers.
Silently nodding, I take my items toward the conference room. Setting everything up, and by the time I am finished, Mr. Hill and Mr. England are entering the room. Mr. England looks as if he didn't sleep well last night, but that isn't my problem.
"Everything is ready," I inform them, my voice flat as is my facial expression.
"Thank you, Skywalker," Mr. Hill softly answers with a weak smile while his friend silently stares at me.
Nodding at my boss, I busy myself with any task I can think of to avoid being around either man, or speak to them. When the meeting starts, I sit across from Mr. England, and in Mr. Hill's left at the end of the table. Throughout the meeting, Mr. England tries to play footsie with me. Every time he does this, I kick him in the shin with a glare.
When we break for lunch, I leave everything at the table, but my wallet, keys, and phone as I exit the conference room.
Passing by Mr. England, I lowly hiss; "Stop fucking touching me!"
"Skywalker, can I please speak with you?" Mr. England requests with a hopeful smile as he reaches out his right hand to grasp my left elbow.
Wrenching my elbow from his hold, growling at him; "What part of 'stop touching me,' don't you understand? I don't want to speak with you, and I won't be an easy lay for you or anyone else!"
"Jace, leave Skywalker alone," Mr. Hill calmly states as he walks over to us with a frown.
Glaring at them both, I leave the room for my lunch break at the small cafe located across the street. Entering the cafe a few minutes later, I order my food, and sit down at a table to wait for my food to be delivered. Mr. England, Mr. Hill, and two other lawyers enter the cafe.
They sit down two tables in front of me with Mr. England sits facing me. Rolling my eyes at him, I pull my phone from my front left pocket to text my best friend, Adam Lawrence. We have been best friends since the start of high school. Unfortunately he lives an hour away from me.
'I have a work friend who wants to meet you,' Adam sends making me smirk.
'What's his name? Tell me about him?' I send back as my foods arrives.
'His name is Weston James. He is 29-years-old, gay, around 6'0", short black hair, blue eyes, and olive complexion,' Adam sends back, and I am definitely interested.
We spend my lunch break texting, and by the time I pay my tab, and start to walk back to work, Mr. England stops me.
"While the hell were you texting that had you smiling sobbing?" he lowly demands.
Glaring at him as I spit back; "None of your fucking business."
"Skywalker, it is my business when I am trying to apologize, and I want to be the person who makes you smile," he replies with a furrowed brows as he reaches for me.
Stepping away from him with a deep frown, I shake my head; "Not when you make nasty, inappropriate comments about me. Now, leave me the fuck alone since I want absolutely nothing to do with you!"
Walking outside, I run across the street once it is clear, I make it into the building five minutes before everyone else. I need to find a new job sooner rather than later. Guess I will start looking tonight, and start applying tonight to anything I can find. I will do this once the kids are in bed, and asleep, and I will contact Adam to ask if he knows of any jobs.
Scrubbing my hands over my face in frustration once I am sitting at my desk for a few minutes before grabbing what I need for the afternoon meeting from the filing cabinets. Heading to the conference room with my arms full, I struggle to open the door until Mr. Hill opens the door for me with a weary smile.
Not caring about manners or my job at the moment, I do not say 'thank you' to Mr. Hill as I step into the room. I scowl at my boss as I pass him since he and his friend are assholes, his friend even more so.
"Skywalker, may we speak for a moment, please?" Mr. Hill softly requests once he has shut the door behind him.
"As long as the topic isn't your asshole friend, than sure," I reply without looking at him as I place the materials out on the table.
He loudly sighs, but I ignore this while I work, and he says; "I wanted to give you my sincere apologies for yesterday morning. Also, if you need help finding a different job, I will do whatever I can to help. I don't want you to remain here if you are miserable because of Jace."
"No thank you, sir, I will find a new job on my own," I reply briefly glancing at him with a frown. "Just don't be surprised when you receive a phone call from a possible employer for me."
