After the whole party thing, Demrest and I were tight. She proved she can hold her own and take it like a champ. She was embarrassed of her drunk antics, but I convinced her she'd rather it have been me than anybody else. She agreed. 2nd semester is picking up and I'm so ready to graduate. Lloyd is waiting to hear from his top choice of college, Ga Tech. I haven't decided what I want to do or be or any of that. I'm leaning towards taking a gap year. Take some time off to be with my brother. I haven't discussed it with my parents yet.

Abigail is getting bigger by the day. I'm waiting for her to pop. I can't wait to meet Adonis.

The gang and I are eating lunch. We're talking about the season of Euphoria. I've never seen it, but Grace and Xavier watch it. It sounds like a lot to me. Demrest runs up to the table frantically. We all direct our attention to her. "Lloyd I need help. I've got Spanish next period and haven't done the homework. I'm supposed to be in study hall right now. Please help me!" Whew, she asked the right one. I don't say anything. Lloyd looked the paper once over. He started pointing and speaking Spanish. Demrest was writing fast as fuck. I laughed to myself. I remember these days. She finished just as the bell rang to dismiss us. She hugged Lloyd quickly and then ran. I shook my head.

Demrest pov

I ran to Spanish. I can't be late today. I have a game. Any infraction and I'm benched. We can't afford for me to be benched. I walk into class with composure. This teacher be trippin. I walk to Senora Morenos desk and pulled my folder out. I laid the papers on the counter. Work turned in. I take my seat in the second row. I pay attention to the board.

I'm so focused in this class I don't even talk to anybody. I don't have any room to. Señora talks through a new set of conjugations. She explains preterite nouns. I'm already confused. My grade has improved slightly. I've been tutored by Lloyd. He's a genius. He really likes Ty. Sometimes when we're studying he just tells me little things about her. It's such a beautiful thing. The bell rings. I make it out of Spanish alive. It's lunch time for me.

I walk into the cafeteria and get in-line. I need to be doing some research. I grab my plate and take a seat at a semi empty table. I pull my laptop out and go to google. Tri-cities high girls varsity basketball team. I'm looking at their star players. Number 36 dropped 22 points in the first half of the last game. 4 3pointers. 4 2 pointers. 2 free throws. She's good. Not better than me though. I look at their line up. It's pretty solid. I hope my team can keep up.

Fatima comes and sits down. She's beautiful. Her parents are Nigerian. Her skin is so dark and rich. Right now the way her hair is braided makes her look like one of the queens from our textbooks. She is a queen. I wish she could be my Queen. "What are you looking at?" You? "Uh nothing checking out the lineup for tonight. Are you cheering for the game?" She took a fork full of green beans and nodded. I'm glad my cheerleader will be there. I kept going through max charts and looking at films from their previous games. We can beat them.

The final bell rings. I grab my backpack and head down to the gym. I'm already ready to go. I can't wait to play. Coach is on the court waiting for us. I'm the 3rd or 4th person to arrive. I don't report to the locker room until we're dismissed. The other girls file their way in. They need to hurry up. We all sit down on the bleachers. Coach Ken gave us a long speech. He gave a run down of the opposing team. Some girls start talking. I'm trying to listen. Shut up, damn. Coach dismissed us to the locker room. I ran into the locker room and went to my locker. All the girls were getting into gear. I was sitting on the bench in my sports bra and compression pants. I'm so ready for this game. I started to stretch with my headphones in. Game time. Gotta focus.

After a little while I  went out to the court. I started warming up with my free throws. The ball girls are collecting and tossing them back up. My teammates Katie, Chrissy, and Ashley come out and start running drills with me. We most likely gone start so we gotta be ready. The cheerleaders walk out the cheer room and hit the floor. They start stretching. I spot Fatima, she waved a pompom at me. I smile and wave back. Gotta keep my head in the game. I start my lay ups. I miss a couple. That's cool. The rest of my team always start to fill the floor.
