Tyrene Pov
First day back. Suspension was not it. Xavier and Grace have second lunch so I'm alone today. That was until Lloyd came over. Lloyd is the boy I met at the party Uncle Antrez beat my ass about. He sat down across from me, but said nothing. The silence was... awkward. I kept eating. "Can I ask you some?" He caught me off guard. "Uh-Yea?" He put his fork down and looked at me. "Did I do something the night of the party?" I was confused. "What are you talking about?" He sighed. "You never texted me back or returned my calls, I thought maybe I had..." I interrupted him with a laugh. " Boy I haven't even seen my phone since the party. I've been in trouble back to back. Disrespect, a fight, you name it. Come to think of it, I didn't have at the party either." I laughed again. He just smiled at me. "Tell you what, I will ask my dad for it when I get home." He kept smiling at. He looked like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. The bell rang. I grabbed my plate and walked toward the trash can. "Hay! Let me walk you to class." I shrugged. I guess. We walked up the steps to math. "Thanks Lloyd." He turned and waved to me. I sat in my class kinda gittery. Lloyd was cute. He actually liked me? Crazy.
The day came to an end and I was tired. I had to stay after to make up test I missed during suspension. After that I went down to dads office. He was already packed up, waiting for me. "Let roll." I walked to the car with him in a comfortable silence. When we got in the car, I popped the question. "Daddy, can I have my phone back? Please. It's been a month almost." He looked at me and laughed. This was not a time to be playing games. I decided to not catch a attitude. I need my phone back. "I'll think about it. Don't ask me again. How was your day?" That means yes. "My day was tiring." I drag the ing. He giggles. "Mine too." We talked back and forth all the way home. When we went in I went straight to my room and sat on the bed. I wanted to go to sleep right now. I had homework. Ugh. I walk back downstairs and pull out my homework. Dad was down here cooking dinner. I started working silently. When I finally finished, and so did he. He put my plate in front of me. "Thanks." He nodded and sat down. "Ty I gotta ask you something." My mouth was full. "Mmhmm" He smiled. "Would you want to stay with me, like permanently. You can say no of course. You're actually free to leave whenever, but I figured you'd want to be here. I mean you don't have too." I was trying to chew so he would shut up. "Yes!" I screamed accidentally. He hates me being loud in the house. "Cool." He tried to play it cool, but I knew he was happy. We talked until I fell asleep at the table. I woke up while he was carrying me up the steps. He kissed my cheek and put me in the bed. I love this dude.
When I woke up in the morning my phone was by my head on the nightstand. I turned it on and texted Grace and Xavier. 'I got my phone back whores' I saw a few missed calls and unread text from an unknown number. It had to be Lloyd. I sat up and got dressed. When I got to school Grace was waiting for me, Xavier hadn't gotten there yet. "Soooo I see you got it back." I laughed. "Yea, I actually just asked for it back because Lloyd thought I was ignoring him." Grace cut in. "Lloyd from the party?" I nodded. "Oooooo what y'all got going on?" I rolled my eyes. "Nothing right now. I think we are mutually interested in each other." She smiled. "This is gonna be cute." Xavier walled up on us. He looked upset. "What's wrong?" He huffed. "My brother. He pissed me off. He woke me up this morning, accused me of lying, being disrespectful, and then punched me in my chest. I got mad and pushed him. He grabbed me by my shirt and like threatened to beat my ass. I don't care. Fuck him." He was breathing hard as hell. Grace stood up. "Calm down Zay. He's not here right now. Let's just go to class, get some breakfast. We can do this." Grace was so calm. I wouldn't know what to do. Xavier started crying. I've only seen Xavier cry like 3 times. His brother must have really pissed him off. The bell was about to ring. "Guys let's get out the hall before people start staring." I grab his hand and take home to the stairs. We go to my dads office. I knock. "Come in." He shouted through he door. "What can I he-" He looked up at me. "You okay Ty?" I nodded. "I am, but I don't know if he is." He looked around me. "Xavier, sit down son." Xavier threw himself in the chair. Oof. I just stood there awkwardly. "You ladies may go to class. I got this." I shrugged. Okay. I turned out the door. Grace was right behind me. "I wonder what they argued about this early in the morning?" I shrugged. "I don't know, but I hope it was worth it."
