Jazmín's eyes followed Camilo Madrigal's form around the center of town. He laughed as he used his shapeshifting to entertain the kids, grinning as they requested for them to shift into them.
It didn't take long for Abuela to find a chore best suited for his Gift. He was a huge help to a lot of the villagers. Sometimes being asked to help with some of their chores so they could get done faster or even looking after a newborn baby. But what he was best at was entertaining the children in the town so their parents could have a break. So, he was always babysitting in a way.
And little Jazmín would tag along. Though she wouldn't do much other than sit on the fountain or a box one that the villagers would let her use. She was always afraid that she would use her Gift by accident and hurt someone. But sometimes, Camilo would get her to join in after a bit. He had to coax her to do so most of the time.
And after dinner, he would spend some time with Mirabel and Jazmín in the nursery until it was time for bed. They spend hours talking about what kind of Gift Mirabel would get.
"Mind reading," Camilo said, snapping his fingers.
"Why that?" Mirabel asked, puffing out her cheeks. "I don't think that would help the village much..."
"Yeah, but you always know what I'm thinking..."
"Because you're easy to read," Jazmín said, rolling her eyes.
"¡No soy! (Am not!)" he shouted, huffing softly.
"What do you think, Jazzie?" Hazel eyes moved from her cousin to her best friend, tilting her head.
"...does it really matter?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"¡Por supuesto!" the small girl cheered, grinning as she leaned forward.
Jazmín stared at the giddy girl before sighing, tilting her head to the right. Her right index finger landed on her cheek as her eyes looked to the right. She had already thought about it before, building her own list of Gifts her best friend could get. Mirabel was just like Camilo in away, always wanting to make everyone happy, including her family. Any Gift she gets would become helpful to everyone.
"Oh," she mumbled softly, straightening her head back up.
"¿Qué?" Camilo asked, leaning forward. "What did you think of?"
"Telekinesis," she stated, nodding her head as she spoke.
"What? Why that?" Mirabel asked, blinking.
"It seems like it would make you able to help others more I guess?" Jazmín shrugged, tilting her head to the left. "I mean...you could move things with your mind, Mira..." She arched an eyebrow.
Slowly, hazel eyes widened. "¡Eso sería genial! (That would be so cool!)" Mirabel squealed, launching herself forward.
Jazmín didn't have time to register what her friend was doing. The next thing she knew, she had a pair of arms thrown around her neck. She nearly fell over from Mirabel leaning her full body weight on the girl, thankfully catching herself with her left hand holding her up. "Oh," she squeaked, a light dust of pink painting her cheeks.
"I hope I get Telekinesis as my Gift!"
"My Gift will still be cooler."
"Jazzie's is better."
"Since when?!"
"Since forever."
Jazmín rolled her eyes, her blush growing. "My Gift isn't that special..." she mumbled; a bit embarrassed this is happening again.
