Eric pressed me against the wall and made a trail of kisses along my neck. I closed my eyes and let his hands graze my back and down my thighs. I pressed my lips to his and melted into his arms. He grabbed my thighs, making me gasp. He lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist. Eric carried me to his bed.

As our kisses became more intense, Eric's hands snaked under my shirt. I teased him and brought my left leg up to his waist and pushed. He played along and fell on his back. Not wanting to fool around, I crawled slowly up his body. I found the tail of his shirt and brought it up. And then I woke up.

My heart was racing and my sweat kept pouring. I ran my fingers through my hair, gasping fir breath. I looked around at the trees. My trip back to Dauntless had a few minor setbacks. When I left faction-less, the guards outside tried to convince me to stay. So, when they tried to use force, I fought against them. Setback number one. After traveling one day, I tried to cook a robin's egg. The mother seen me, and it flogged me. So, I might have killed it. Last setback.

But I did make it back. The Initiates, especially Tris, were glad that I was back. I was greeted with claps on my back, and hugs from Tris and Christina. I smiled politely to everyone, but all I wanted was to crawl under my blankets and sleep. Maybe I would continue my dream... No. I didn't want anything to do with Eric. Or sleeping with him.

"Sierra!" I heard someone call. I turned around.

"Eric," I said with disgust. I couldn't stop the butterflies in my stomach, though. Recalling my dream was too painful, so I walked away.

"Sierra, wait!" Eric pleaded. I never stopped though. Not once did I look back. I kept on until I reached my room, slamming the door behind me. I threw my bag against the wall and knocked over a glass, shattering it into tiny pieces. I paced back and forth, letting my tears flow freely. I ran my hands through my thick hair, sighing.

Unexpectedly, Eric barged in my room with hateful eyes on me.

"Go away, Eric!" I screamed, throwing a pillow at him. A pillow, really, Sierra?

"No, not until you hear me out," Eric exclaimed, dodging everything I threw at him. It was no use, I slumped against the wall in defeat. I cried and cried and cried. I put my face in my knees and let it all fall apart. An arms wrapped around me slowly, but I pushed away. I looked at Eric, who's face seemed eager and upset. He touched my arm gently, and I didn't flinch away.

"Eric, why do you hate me so much?" The question slipped off my tongue. I felt myself blushing and turned away, only to be brought into strong but gentle arms. I rested the back of my head against Eric's chest. At the moment I didn't care if he was using me or not. I just needed to be held.

Eric's lips cane to my ear, and he whispered, "I don't hate you, Sierra. I just don't understand all the feelings that I feel when I'm around you. It seems like I'm not myself when I know you're near." His soft breath and his slow heartbeat made me go calm, and I relaxed.

One question still remained in my mind. "But why did you try to kill me twice?" I felt Eric tense, and I turned to face him. Our noses were touching.

"For my whole life, I've been nothing to the ones around me. My parents never loved me, and they were abusive. I was invisible to everyone. I chose Dauntless, not just because it was my results, but I had promised myself that I wouldn't let anyone in. Until I met you," he stroked my hair, "I never knew how to love." Could I believe his words? Eric sounded so sincere and truthful. He wasn't what I thought he was. Eric was deeper, more sensitive than what they all credited him for.

"I'm sorry." And I was. For his past, for his life, for the way I treated him. Eric seen my expression, and I looked in his eyes. His blue with my green. Perfectly perfect. My breathing got heavy as me and Eric's faces inched closer. Our lips brushed, and I couldn't help it. I wrapped my arm around him and rested my palm on the back of his neck. He made the first move. Eric kissed me. Fire ran through my veins, making my pulse go out of control. Our lips danced and all my senses went haywire. I drove my tongue against his lower lip and Eric put his hand on my hip. Our kisses became more intense and every part of me was numb. I ran my hands along his back and through his hair. My fingers snaked down his chest and to the buttons of his vest. And then something sharp and cold ran into my neck. The last thing I seen was Eric crying and screaming on the floor. . .
