"Good morning dad!" Naruto's face beamed with excitement as he snatched his backpack from the floor and swung it over his shoulder, ready to head out the door. "Bye, dad."

"Hey, hey, young man!" his father's warning made Naruto look at him with confusion.

"Yeah?"

"Where do you think you're going so early?"

"School?"

"This early?" He looked at the clock. "Your classes start at 10 am why the hell are you leaving at 6:45?" He took a sip of his coffee.

"This early?" His father glanced at the clock, his eyebrows furrowing. "Your classes don't start until 10 am. Why the hell are you leaving at 6:45?" He took a sip of his coffee, trying to comprehend the situation.

"Oh, my friend needs a ride, and we usually grab breakfast together," Naruto explained, his nervous gestures revealing his unease, which his observant father immediately picked up on.

"A friend?"

"Yeah."

"Kiba?"

"No."

"A female friend?" His father raised a curious eyebrow.

"Nope. His name is Sasuke," Naruto answered vaguely, fidgeting with the hem of his t-shirt.

"I would appreciate it if you didn't lie to me."

"I'm not lying, Dad!" The blond insisted earnestly. And technically, he wasn't lying; he just wasn't revealing the whole truth. "His name is Sasuke."

"You've been spending a lot of time with that Sasuke kid. And if you're not lying to me, what the hell is that on your neck?" His father pointed to Naruto's neck, and instinctively, the blond covered the hickey on the right side. He already knew it was there, a visible reminder of the intense make-out session he had shared with his boyfriend the night before.

The previous day, after Naruto and Sasuke had left the Ferris wheel, they drove back to Kohona. Since they hadn't eaten anything, Naruto stopped by the McDonald's drive-thru and bought dinner for both of them. They drove and parked near the beach to savor their meal in the car while enjoying the breathtaking view of the sea and each other's company.

When it was time to drop Sasuke off at home, Naruto walked him to the door, and what was meant to be a brief farewell turned into an extended session of passionate kissing against the backdrop of the Uchiha residence's front door. Sasuke had even offered for Naruto to spend the night, given the late hour and the fact that Naruto had to pick him up the next day. However, Naruto had soccer practice the following day and had left his equipment at his own house, so he reluctantly declined the invitation.

"You've been acting really strange for the past week. Do you think I didn't notice? You were happy initially, and then you seemed depressed for the rest of the week until dinner at your friend's house," his father observed, concern evident in his voice. "You're dating, aren't you?" he asked, causing Naruto to nervously bite his lip nervously.

Fuck

Naruto wasn't ready to come out yet. He knew his father would probably be accepting, given his own experience as a gay man, but the fear of something going wrong lingered in his mind.

He understood it wouldn't be like the last time. Iruka was a good man, and he would never react negatively.

However, coming out was a significant step for Naruto, one that required careful consideration and a dedicated conversation with his father.

But right now, he was running late to pick up his boyfriend.

"Don't lie to me, son. I won't get mad, I just wish you had more confidence in sharing things with me," his father said, his voice filled with emotion. "I've never forbidden you from doing anything, and that won't change now. I was just worried, that's all. You weren't the type to leave the house so frequently, and suddenly I barely see you. And when I do, you seem sad and depressed, and I just..." His father's voice trailed off, his eyes welling up with tears as he rushed forward to pull Naruto into a tight hug.
