Nick paused as you opened the door to the Spellman house. He could hear you talking before you stepped out onto the porch, talking about something with Sabrina who was leaning on the open door.
"See you next week Sabrina." You called as you fixed your coat and waved to her as she smiled and closed the door. You didn't seem to notice him at first as you hurried down the steps. You stopped halfway when you finally saw Nick at the foot of the porch steps.
"(Y/N)." Nick said awkwardly. He wasn't sure what to say to you anymore. Conversation with you used to come to him so easily. But now he was speechless.
"Nicholas." You said calmly. He waited as you continued down the steps and vanished out of sight as you walked down the path. Once you'd gone he hurried up the stairs and knocked on the door.
"Nick?" Sabrina said in surprise.
"Ambrose knows I'm coming." Was all he said as she let him in.
"He's up in his room." She gestured up the stairs. Thanking her, Nick headed on up and found Ambrose reading.
"Well! Look who's finally out of the Gray room. How can I help you, old friend?" Ambrose asked Nick who sighed.
"I need a spell." He said quickly. He had been thinking about it for weeks. Prudence had said it was impossible if not illegal. But he didn't care and he needed something to be done.
"A spell to do what?" Ambrose asked.
"To forget." He wouldn't admit what he wanted to forget. He didn't want to admit that he needed too. But Ambrose knew. His eyes widened then softened as if he pitied Nick.
"If you are asking what I think..."
"I need you to take the memories away Ambrose. I can't..." Nick trailed off after interrupting Ambrose. He paced the room, frustrated but silent. Ambrose waited patiently. "I keep waiting to wake up and be over it but it isn't happening."
"There isn't a spell that can do that for you. You just have to see this through. You just have to keep going until you're able to move on." Ambrose sunded apologetic. Nick stopped pacing and sighed.
"I can't move on. I love them." Nick snapped loudly. Ambrose nodded and stood up.
"I'm sorry Nicholas. There isn't anything I can do to help you. At least not with magic." Ambrose said apologetically and got to his feet. He felt awful for Nick. He had asked Nick to help Sabrina, knowing that Sabrina was a sore spot between the two of you. He hadn't known that Nick had cancelled a date to help him. He also didn't know that Nick hadn't told you about it. He had mentioned he was grateful that Nick helped Sabrina and all the tiny problems splintered the two of you apart. Ambrose felt like he had been the final straw. Though Sabrina assured him that you blamed neither of them for Nick's choice to hide what he was doing. In fact when he'd asked you, you had said if Nick had told you what was happening you would have helped. Things ended in a way that made everyone think things would resolve in no time.
"Did you speak with (Y/N). Since they broke up with you?" Ambrose asked curiously.
"They wouldn't say anything when I tried. I don't know what I'm supposed to say anymore." Nick muttered. Ambrose motioned for him to slump into a chair and made Nick a drink. "We would talk for hours. But now I don't even know if I'm supposed to say hello."
"Let time pass. Think about what you want. What you miss. What you would do differently. When the time is right, tell them." Ambrose advised.
"What if it's never the right time?" Nick asked as he took the drink Ambrose offered him.
"Well. You're a warlock. I imagine you can make any moment the right moment." Ambrose offered up as his final piece of advice. Nick enjoyed the silence. Ambrose put on some music before sitting on a pile of cushions and drinking his own drink. The two sat together like that for most of the afternoon until Nick was ready to leave.
"Thank you Ambrose." He said as he left. He pondered over what Ambrose had said, wondering what things he missed that he'd never noticed before. Thinking over how he missed attending events with you, walking through Greendale and watching mortals bustle around. He'd found them annoying. But now, he missed doing them. He missed the way you'd chatter on and on in his ear. Ambrose was right. He needed to think and wait for the right moment. Instead of moping at Gray's club.
