Y/n's pov:I arrived home and opened the front door,
"Mom! I'm home-"My mom jumped at me and hugged me tightly.
"Oh- thank god! I thought you were hurt! I was so worried.. you cant just walk out of the house like that ever again!"
"Sorry mom... and don't worry I was with the Madrigals."
My moms expression changed. "Which... one's were you with?"
I shrugged.
"Most Mirabel, Dolores, Camilo-"
My mom just stared at me with an unreadable expression.
"You're grounded." She suddenly said.
"WHAT? Why? I'm not hurt or anything-"
"Grounded! Go to your room." My mom said, pointing towards my room.
In shock, I walked up to my room. I shut the door and sat down on my bed. Wtf...
I stared down at my hands. What did I do wrong?
I sighed and walked over to my window. "Pepa doesn't seem to be calming down..." I said, as I noticed the sky remained a dark shade of clouds.
I looked down at the grass outside my window.
"I should've check up on Mirabel before I left.. I was so busy laughing with Camilo I had forgotten about her..."
I could jump out of my window..
The jump isnt that far down-
I decided to take a safer approach and made a rope for myself out of my old bed sheets. I tied it tightly before using it to escape my bedroom.
It's not too late to turn back..
No. Mirabel needs me. I started running towards the Casa Madrigal. Sneaking out wasnt anything new for me. I had done it many of times, but mostly to just go on late night walks since I had trouble sleeping. My mom was also usually pretty strict about me going out at night. Normally I would sneak out the front door while my mom was sleeping, but today, I had escaped through my window.
I made it to the front door and wondered if I should knock on the front door. I lifted my knuckles to knock on the door when the door opened on its own. Strange, but to be fair this is a magical house.
I walked in and didn't see anyone.
"Hey y/n." I heard a voice say behind me. I yelped a little bit, my heart racing as I got scared. I relaxed when I saw Dolores.
"Hey Dolores. Have you seen Mirabel?" I said.
"No. We are all looking for her."
Just then, Camilo walked into view.
"Mirabel?" Camilo sighed. "Mirabel-"
His form was disturbed by his shape-shifting powers, causing him to turn into a baby head with a grown man's body. He continued calling for his cousin in a high-pitched voice:
"Mirabel!"
"The magic is messed up."
I heard Dolores say in a soft voice behind me.
He froze when he saw Dolores and I staring at him. He quickly shook himself back into his normally form, like he had done at dinner. I took a minute just looking at him, admiring his features. Did he always look so cute?
"Oh hey- I hadn't seen you guys. Dolores, have you found Mirabel yet? Can you hear her?" He asked, as he stood in front of his sister and I.
Dolores shrugged. Yea... shouldnt she be able to hear Mirabel?
"I'll go look for her somewhere else." Dolores said quickly, silently walking away.
"Wha-" her little brother stood there confused.
"Let me help look for Mirabel. It's the least I can do." I offered.
"Yea sure.."
Camilo and I walked in mostly silence, occasionally calling out Mirabel's name. I never noticed how big the house was until now.
"Your home is very beautiful." I told Camilo. I walked over to a balcony and looked down at the town. It looked beautiful.
Camilo leaned against the railing next to me.
"Mhm." He bit his lip. He paused but continued talking,
"I'm scared. You know, about the vision and all that. I hope nothing happens to our home. Or Mirabel. It's not her fault she's in the vision. All she wants is to help our family."
I listened to what he had to say. He sighed and started running his fingers through his hair. I thought of something to say but I couldn't bring myself to say anything. I took my eyes off the town and looked at him. He was already staring at down at me.
"I like your eyes.." I said softly, not knowing how to comfort him.
He smiled.
"Yea I know... I'm beautiful." He said, pretending to dramatically flip his hair.
I chuckled softly.
I grabbed one of his hands and held it gently as a way to comfort him.
"Hey, I'm sorry about everything going on right now with your family. I wish I could do more to help."
Camilo's cheeks turned a soft red color. He pulled his hand away from mine.
"Thanks... we should probably go back to looking for Mirabel. It's probably the best thing you can do to help right now-"
Right as he finished talking, a growing sound of singing could be heard from outside. A bunch of colorful flowers grew around us, as the vibrant colors covered the house. I looked out to see Mirabel with Isabela.
"Mirabel!" I said excitedly. Thank god she's ok. She smiled as she saw me, but kept singing with her older sister. I looked at the town to see the same colorful plants covering every corner.
Camilo looked at the plants in shock.
My smile quickly faded as I saw an angry Abuela making her way to Casita.
"Oh no..."
"What?" Camilo asked as he heard my quiet comment.
"Your Abuela looks mad..."
I said, as Camilo followed my eyes to an angry Abuela entering the home.
"What is going on?!"
Oh no...
