Y/n's pov:

Camilo insisted on walking me home as soon as possible.

"I wouldn't want you getting caught. Who knows what your mom would do to you."

He said, as we left his Casita. He pulled me out in such a rush I barely had enough time to say goodbye to Mirabel and everyone else.

"Mhm. Or maybe you just wanted to get rid of me." I said jokingly.

Camilo sighed. "Yup. You caught me." He said, raising his arms in the arm, defeated.

We both laughed softly and kept walking towards me home.

"Hey, you know you don't have to go back. You're welcome to stay with us."

I wanted to stay with Camilo and his family more than anything. But, abusive or not, my mom is still my mom so I can't just leave her. Or, at least that's what I keep telling myself. Maybe in reality I'm scared and that's why I won't leave. Maybe I'm scared that if I do leave, she'll find a way to haunt me.

"No, really it's ok."

Camilo slipped his hand into mine, holding a smile on his face. He lightly squeezed my hand.

"I'm here for you, ok? Always. You can always come to me if you ever need anything."

I nodded, feeling comfortable at his words.

He began telling me more about his family, probably as a way to distract me from the fact I was walking back to my abusive household.

We walked into town, and loud chatter greeted us as we walking along the bright shops.

We kept walking along, and I grew more scared as we grew closer to my home.

"Hey you ok?" Camilo asked me, reading a horrified expression on my face.

"Yea I'm fine. Let's go.."

I began walking faster, Camilo right behind me.

When my house came into view, Camilo and I stopped.

"When will I see you again?" He asked, turning to face me.

"I'm not sure."

I walked to the ladder that was still on the side of my house and began going up.

"Wait- I..." Camilo began saying something.

"What?" I asked, jumping back into my room.

"Never mind. See you soon." He said, as I smiled down at him.

"Thanks for sneaking me out."

"Anytime." He blew me a kiss, and I pretended to catch it and put it in my pocket.

He than ran off to complete whatever tasks he had to do in town that day.

I began picking up the large pieces of glass that covered my bedroom floor.

What the hell am I going to tell my mother?

I then realized how tired I was, and made my way over to my bed, falling  asleep almost instantly.

Bang, bang, bang.

I awoke to loud knocking on my door. I gently sat up.

"Wake up! Come down for breakfast." I heard my mom say.

"Ok, going.." I said in a sleepy voice.

I changed my clothes and went downstairs. My mom had her back facing me.

"Eat."

I did as she said.

"How.. long are you going to keep me locked in my room?" I asked after a long moment of silence.

My mother sighed.

"If only you knew-"

I slammed my fists onto the table loudly.

"Knew what?! Just tell me already! I know you're hiding something! Do the Madrigals have something to do with it? Is that why you don't like them?"

My mom turned to me.

"I loved the Madrigals! It was until you came along that I had to keep them away from us- no, not all of the Madrigals. Just one. Just that camilo." She said his name with disgust.

"Why! Why Camilo? Hm? Answer me!" I was screaming at her.

"Go to your room."

"No! I want answers. I will tear this house apart if I don't get an answer! Brick by brick!"

I was finally done with her. I was finally done with my mother.

"Go ahead and try."

I was furious.

"Why cant you just tell me..." I said, my voice getting shaky.

My mom opened her mouth to speak, or yell possibly, but we heard a knock on the door.

My mom and I both turned towards the door.

She went over and opened it, her face red with anger. She covered it up with a fake ass smile.

"Oh... hello there.."

Dolores and Luisa were both standing outside of my house.

"Hey... Miss l/n. Sorry to bother you, but we're here to steal away y/n, for a sleepover! Yea, we are having a sleepover with just the girls. Can y/n come?"

My mom stared at them blankly.

"Well, if it's just the girls, then I suppose..." she paused. "She can stay for the day. She cant sleepover. I want her back by 9pm tonight."

Of course she would say yes to their faces. She needed to look like a perfect loving mother in front of strangers.

Better than nothing.

I ran over to the door, past my mom and next to Dolores.

I said nothing else, and grabbed the door, slamming it shut.

"Let's go, fast before she changes her mind."

I felt saved. Dolores had heard my mother and I yelling at each other and she came quickly with Luisa, as she thought Luisa might scare her a bit. Dolores picked her words carefully, mentioning we would only be with the girls, excluding Camilo, as she now knew my mother had a special hatred towards him.

Why tho? Why Camilo? Why does she hate him so damn much?
