Katsuki waited until night fell before he put his plan into action. Shoto left earlier that day and it was the perfect opportunity to sneak into his office to see if he can find anything. About who he is, where he is, why he can't leave the house, and who the man was. Katsuki had so many questions. He wasn't sure why he hadn't thought of this sooner. Just, something inside him was tugging him to do it.

And those claws. Those claws never seemed to leave him alone. Katsuki didn't think he was going to do it tonight but he couldn't sleep. Those claws continued to scrape against his mind. Each stroke made chills go down his spine. At times, he could've swore he felt a brush against his bottom.

Katsuki held the chamberstick with the candle lighting his way through the dark halls of the house. At night, the house was creepier than ever. Katsuki knew the house was big but it felt bigger now, almost endless. He sped-up a bit, not wanting whatever creature he was thinking of catch-up to him.

He made sure not to make any noise as he walked. Getting the attention of a worker or a guard on duty would cause a lot of trouble.

Katsuki finally made it to Shoto's office. He felt a wave of relief, feeling as if his life had been saved. He  opened the door and it quietly creaked from old age. He sneaked in and closed the door behind him.

The room had a large desk near the window with perfectly organized pencils and other things on top. There were no large stacks of papers to be seen. On the other side of the room, there were bookshelves and two couches of the same texture and color facing each other. He couldn't tell what the color was with the amount of darkness in the room.

He brushed his hand on top of a shelf and not a single piece of dust was left on his hands. Katsuki was impressed. On one shelf, there was a large katana on a holder keeping it up. The gold ribbon shined in the candle's light. Katsuki brushed his hand against it, feeling the hilt and the many leather pieces wrapped around it. He continued to look at each artifact beautifully placed around the room. Most of it was weapons like knives and swords. But each one intrigued Katsuki.

As he looked at one, he felt the claws scrape the walls of his mind once again. Katsuki shook from his trance and remembered what he was here for. He walked to the desk and set the candle on the table. Katsuki pulled out the drawers and skimmed through all the files, seeing what could be of importance to him.

Most of the drawers were filled with files and random papers. Some were letters from people or kingdoms. Others were writings that Katsuki couldn't understand. Katsuki noticed a drawer that had a lock on it. He had a feeling what he was looking for was there. But he had no idea where the key could be.

He felt something tug him at a certain area. Katsuki looked at the direction and saw a small box on a shelf. It was a beautiful box and would be mostly used for a jewelry box. Katsuki got up grabbed the box from the shelf. It surprisingly was heavy. He carefully laid it on the table and made sure it didn't make any other noise except a thump against the table.

Seeing it more in the light, katsuki could tell it was handmade by someone with skill. Katsuki opened the box. Revealed inside was necklaces of different jewels. Each was unique. He gently removed each one from the box and placed it on the table. The necklaces shined in the light of the candle.

All that was left in the box was a knife and a key. Katsuki immediately grabbed the key and moved to the drawer with the lock. The key perfectly fit in the hole and it opened cleanly. Inside were many envelopes opened, a picture with a note on the back, two papers, and a diamond ring. Katsuki suddenly was hit with a memory of the ring on his finger. Then someone holding his hand and kissing it. Katsuki's heart felt whole for the first time. More memories came with his hand only being seen while someone else held his hand, with a matching ring. The last memory was a man's hands putting it on his finger, as they got married.

Katsuki came back to reality, tears slipping down his cheeks. He clenched his shirt where his heart was. He felt like he lost something in his heart and his heart ached for it back. Katsuki quickly grabbed the things inside the drawer and put them in a bag that was on the side. He grabbed random papers and put them inside the drawer. There was something pulling him to take the things. He needed to find out more about it and he'd have to take them with him to study them carefully.

It was also anger that made him do it. Katsuki felt like Shoto took his heart, his identity. Why would Shoto hide such a thing? Katsuki wondered. He left the room after putting everything back the way it was except for the bag and the things inside it. The light lead his way back to his room. Katsuki closed the door behind him. He set the candle on the nightstand and sat down on his bed.

He removes the things inside the bag and set them carefully on the bed in front of him. There wasn't much to look at. Mostly envelopes. Katsuki looked at the ring first. The diamond was large and metal pieces that looked like vines surrounded it, keeping it inside the ring. The circle part of the ring looked like vines and little pieces of in each leaf. The more katsuki looked at it, the more he fell in love with it.

At the inner parts of the ring, there were initials written. They were the initials of "I.M. & K.B." Katsuki's heart melted just at the sight of it. He wasn't sure why but he felt like this was his and would always be. The claws lightly brushed against his mind in a comforting way. Katsuki only smiled and reached for his head, trying to hold those claws.

He felt a chill against his left arm. Katsuki turned to his arm and saw a shadow move up his arm. It was almost as if his arm was being wrapped around vines of shadows. Katsuki didn't feel scared and watched as the shadow took the ring and slowly put it on his left finger. Katsuki smiled. The shadow left his hand and the chills against his arm left. He felt alone once again.

The ring looked perfect on his hand. Made for his built hands and soft, pale skin. Next, katsuki grabbed the photo and read the note on the back first.

"I love you with all my heart, katsuki. I will protect and love you till the end of my days. I pray each night that you stay with me and every morning, you're there by my side. P.S, I can't wait to take you in bed and moan my name every night for the rest of our lives," the note said.

Katsuki felt his cheeks heat up and kissed the note on the back. He flipped over the picture. In the picture was a tall man. He had a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and tucked into his pants. His green eyes looked into the camera with sweetness but danger. There was almost a fog in his eyes. Katsuki felt the need to make sure the fog went away, so he could see those beautiful eyes better. His green hair, darker than his eyes, shined in the sunlight that came into the room.

Katsuki brushed a hand against the picture. Tears fell onto the picture. Katsuki quickly wiped them away and made sure the picture was okay. He felt a connection to the person in that photo. His heart beat faster just at the look of him. Feelings his heart beat quicken made him feel more alive.

He set the photo down and looked at the envelopes. As he read through each one, he realized they were love letters. They were sent to him. Each one was written with love and desire. Katsuki could tell from how it was written. Katsuki loved every single one of them.

The last one was shorter than the rest and it was written in a sad tone. The person explained that they were starting to lose hope that Katsuki would remember and wonder if he's even getting the envelopes. The letter ended with the words "I love you."

Katsuki began to sob. The person that was giving him hope couldn't have given up. There's no way that they could. He was going to be Katsuki's hero. Take him away from this place. Show him the beauties of the world and make him remember who he was. Katsuki wanted that. Needed that.

The claw brushes the walls of his mind again. Katsuki only sobbed harder.

"W-why won't you come to me," he sobbed.

"Take me away from this place," katsuki said through tears. There was no answer to his pleas.

After crying for a while, katsuki began to calm down, only left with hiccups and sniffles. Katsuki put the letters back into their proper envelopes. He grabbed the picture and envelopes and held them close to his chest. He laid down against them pillow and curled in on himself. Katsuki wanted that comfort again, the comfort of knowing someone was by his side and would save him. From the tiredness of crying, he fell into a deep sleep, dreaming of the man in the photo.
