After I waved my mom off, I started heading to school. My school was 10 minutes away from my 2 bedroom apartment, so I could walk there with no issue. I stepped outside and was immediately hit with the brutal winds and chilly temperature.

"Ughh I hate my life." I groaned.

As I walked down the cold, icy streets of Indianapolis. I start to wonder about the killings happening recently. What really unsettled me was Maryland street was about 20 minutes away from where I lived.

I could've easily been one of those kids, dead with no evidence or justice. I shivered at the thought, just calm down Kobi your anxiety is just making you paranoid. I thought as I took a deep breath. Relax, everything is going to be just fine.

After 10 minutes of walking, and accidentally falling while slipping on ice. I finally made it to West Shores Academy.  At first glance to a regular person, the building doesn't even look like a regular high school.

The school, covered in white paint, has a rectangular shape with about 50 long glass windows covered around it. The building doesn't have any width , just really tall, imagine a book the size of a small building. An American flag is planted on the top of the building like putting a cherry on top of a disgusting ice cream. Yep, I hate this school I thought with a sigh.

The inside of the school however, is a completely different story. Walking into the entrance stands a tall, golden statue about 10ft. The statue is a fat, balding white man with an absurdly long, wrinkly beard.

Looking at it as I enter the school, he honestly looks straight like a disney villain, and not the good ones either. One time, a couple of seniors thought it would be funny to throw eggs and toilet paper at the statue. They were caught by the principal of our school Mr. Braun and were immediately expelled without a thought.

It almost feels like the school cares more about this statue than us students. Walking to my locker, I was immediately crowded by students. The school's hallways are short and narrow since the building is so small. So we had to push each other to get to where we wanted to go.

"E-Excuse me" I nervously said as I squeezed through a group of students. I arrived at my locker and started to enter my locker combination, when I felt an arm land over my skinny shoulders.

"Just who I wanted to see! Wassup Kobi!" The person who just ruined my peaceful morning was none other than Armony. If not caring about anything was a person it would be him.

He's about the same height as me with more weight on him. But that's not surprising, almost everyone around me weighs more than me. He has big round hazel eyes that bounce around every time he gets excited.

I noticed he got a haircut, usually he would just let his nappy black hair live on it's own. Now his hair is trimmed down with a fro and shaved on the sides. He's honestly attractive and can pull girls with eaze if he wants to. I wonder why he doesn't have a girlfriend yet.

He wore some blue Jordans with black ripped jeans and a black hoodie that says "Phantom" on it. Phantom is his favorite rapper and he listens to him almost everyday, but that's besides the point.

"Wassup Armony" I said tiredly. I didn't have energy after watching the news this morning.

"What's wrong with you?, you look like somebody stole your girlfriend oh-wait" He jokingly said with a shit-eating grin on his face.

"At least I ain't the number one school's hoe, you look like a stereotypical light skin" I fired back.

Armony pulled out a wrinkled dollar bill from his jeans and handed it to me with a sad expression on his face. " Here, you look like you need some food".

I had no comeback after that one, so I just walked away pouting in defeat. What made the loss even worse was that I grabbed the dollar before I left.
