Even with the full moon passing a few days ago, the pearl light that cast itself onto Luca's figure was still strong enough to cause her eyes and ears to shift. Her body had become used to the heightened feeling from being out in the moonlight, so she had stopped being as jittery. Which was good as not to shake the branch that she and Blair positioned themselves on from a tree near the Museum of Cultural History. Intently, she watched the moonlight. She couldn't seem to peel away her glowing eyes as she soaked up the light. Blair was positioned next to her and had been scrolling through her phone while leaning against the trunk of the tree. The ginger watched her friend as the yellow glow from Luca's eyes lit up brightly in their shadowed position and highlighted Luca's cheeks and eyebrows.
Blair was the only person on campus besides Fairy Godmother who knew of Luca's canine genetics. Blair had discovered her friend's closely guarded secret on a full moon night. Luca hadn't been precisely quiet while struggling to escape her dorm room one night during their first year of school. That night ended with Blair gaining a large scar down the arm and a lesson to never accompany an inexperienced werewolf into the nights of a full moon. Blair never held the incident against Luca, but Luca definitely never forgave herself. Blair was pretty sure she still hadn't. Over the years, Luca had become more in control of herself during those unique nights. Yet, she still doesn't let Blair keep her company during the night of mostly lonely wandering the enchanted forest, no matter how much the archer pestered the wolf.
By now, the two young women had been sitting there for half an hour while waiting for the children of the Isle to make their move. It mainly stayed quiet, with the only inclination of anything being Luca's hood, which would twitch along with her ears with the occasional nocturnal noise. Eventually, they completely perked up at the sound of approaching footsteps and hushed voices. Luca lightly tapped Blair's leg and pointed outward with a whisper, "They're coming." Blair immediately shut off her phone, and both shifted their position to better cover any chance of the villain kids seeing them.
Luca's ears twitched and shifted every few seconds now, and her eyes could start to trace the approaching figures, and they snuck up to the building. On the other hand, Blair remained blind and deaf to them until she finally saw a shift under the lights of a light post. Blair and Luca watched as Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay all hurried over to the door and peeked in. "Come on. Check your mirror," Mal gestured to Evie as they ducked down to avoid catching the guard's attention that was posted at the entrance. Evie's expression turned panicked as she fumbled for the handheld mirror of magic and looked at her eyes. "Is my mascara smudged?" She asked hastily, causing a deadpan expression to cover all three of her friends' faces simultaneously.
"Yeah. And, while you're at it, why don't you see if you can find us the wand?" Mal snapped and caused Evie to huff before searching for the mirror while still messing with her mascara gently. Eventually, Evie found the way to go, but they had to get past the guard. Before they could plan anything, Jay noticed something standing in the middle of the foyer. It was Maleficent's spinning wheel. Luca knew almost every artifact that was in the museum. During her first two years, Luca spent much free time in the Villians Wing, mostly around her father's statue, where she would do homework or read to learn about the inhabitants her father was imprisoned with. She knew all the horrendous stories of most villains but couldn't seem to put much trust into them based on how twisted and incorrect her father's story was.
