"'I'll be there in a second, Mirabel'. 'I won't stay long'. Bullshit. You guys had better get up before one of the parents comes in."

Ana was awoken by Mirabel's voice and a vicious tapping on her leg.

"No." She mumbled and curled up further into the person sleeping next to her. She cracked an eye open and saw Camilo, his arm wrapped around her waist. She closed her eyes again.

Wait a second...

She bolted awake, falling off the bed backward with a loud thump. Mirabel casually left the room.

Camilo woke up and raised his head. "What are you doing, Ana?" He asked groggily.

Ana cleared her throat nervously, standing up. "It was nice spending time with you, but uh, bye." She hurried out of the room.

As she walked out the door, she saw a tiny boy out of the corner of her eye. She whipped around to find Antonio, who had just seen her come out of Camilo's room.

"Fuck." She said unintentionally aloud.

"Fuck." Antonio repeated.

Dolores stepped out of her room, a horrified expression on her face.

Shit. Fuck. No.

"Shhh. No. We don't say that word. Ever. Again. Understand?" Ana grabbed his shoulders, leaning her face close to his.

"O-okay." He whispered.

"But if anyone asks, Camilo taught you that." Ana nodded her head and hurried off to Mirabel's room, closing the door behind her.

Ana sat between Mirabel and Camilo at the breakfast table. Ana gave careful glances at Antonio to make sure he wouldn't curse. She was taking a bite of her eggs when Antonio's voice perked up.

"Ana..." He began, sweet and innocent.

No, please don't say 'fuck'.

Anything but that.

"Why were you in Camilo's room?"

No that was worse.

Mirabel spit out the water She was drinking and Camilo started aggressively choking on his food. Ana just stared at him across the table.

"I'm sorry, Toñito. What did you say?" Pepa asked.

"He just means that she, Mirabel, and Dolores were all in my room for a little bit last night. You were there too, Antonio, remember?" Camilo gave him a warning glance.

Antonio caught on because he just muttered a soft "uh-huh" and stuffed his face with arepa.

"Okay..." Pepa looked unconvinced but decided to drop it for the time being.

Ana chuckled nervously, glancing at Camilo who was quickly finishing his food.

"Mmh, delicious as always, Tía. May I be excused?" He didn't wait for an answer but stood up and motioned to Ana. "I'll walk you home." He took his dish and hers to the kitchen. Ana followed him through the door.
